Friday Five

June 4, 2015 22 Comments

Happy Friday! Here’s to an awesome weekend with family and friends! And here’s to these five things I’m loving this week:

National Donut Day 2015 Krispy Kreme Her Heartland Soul

1. It’s National Doughnut Day!! Krispy Kreme is offering all visitors a free doughnut of their choice today! Make sure you stop by and pick up your own yummy circle of happiness. You’re welcome. 😀

(In writing this post I googled why the heck there are two commonly accepted spellings of the word donut. Turns out before Dunkin’ Donuts everyone said doughnuts. Then Dunkin’ Donuts came around and decided to start calling them donuts. America latched on to the simpler spelling and the rest is history! And for the record I prefer donut to doughnut but Krispy Kreme to Dunkin’ Donuts.)

2. Do you remember how last week I raved about the RockMyRun app? Turns out, not only does the app rock, the company does too! Their marketing team reached out to me with a code to give you guys for a free month of their pro Rockstar membership. This gets you all the mixes, ad-free, with ultimate customization for your workouts. Simply go to the menu on your app, click the Redeem Code option, and enter RMR5O.

Their awesomeness continued as they then hooked me up with a free year of Rockstar membership. And they’re doing the same thing for one of you! Just leave a comment letting me know what your favorite kind of music to workout to is and you’re entered! I’ll pick a winner Monday morning!

3. This a cappella cover of Chandelier is incredible. Gosh I wish I could sing.

Getting sent surprise bottles of wine = 🍷❤️😍👍🏻 Trying to photograph it without a cat photobombing = 😻😬🐈 😂 Loving this @mcbridesisters Chardonnay!

4. I shared this Instagram photo the other day of Punkin photobombing my attempt at a pretty wine picture. You guys, this Truvee Chardonnay is awesome. Like I drank the whole bottle good. 😉

Until I went on my wine trip I couldn’t figure out why I loved some chardonnays and hated others. Turns out, if a chardonnay is aged entirely in oak barrels I usually do not like the taste. It’s when chardonnay is aged in both oak barrels and steel barrels that I usually love the taste. And this stuff is the perfect blend of the two. The kind folks at Truvee not only sent me a bottle of the chardonnay to try, but a bottle of their red blend as well. Red wine gives me horrible headaches so I gifted the bottle to my friend Erin who drank it over a bubble bath and gave it two thumbs way up!

Friday 5 Grey Fifty Shades Her Heartland Soul Erin Fairchild

5. Is anyone else excited for Grey, the new 50 Shades of Grey book coming out in a little over a week? All I know is that it’s told from Christian’s perspective and that I have already pre-ordered a copy. I have no shame and no plans the day this book comes out.

Questions of the Day: Doughnut or Donut? Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts? Red wine or white? What’s your favorite kind of music to workout to? Are you going to read the new 50 Shades of Grey book?

P.S. See you tomorrow with a new Saturday Shares!

I found your blog via a twitter recommendation. I’m going to have to go with “doughnuts” because I’m THAT old. I also still use the subjunctive tense, but I’m pretty sure I’m a dying breed on that one. OTOH, I know what OTOH means so I’m not that fossilized —- yet. 😉

Thanks so much for checking out my blog Suzanne! I don’t mind which way donuts are spelled as long as I get to eat them! 😀

I liked completely different mixes of music when I workout. I get too bored if I have all of one genre, so I have some pop, rap, jazz, country, classical and latin right now!

I’m the opposite with Chardonnay and only like it if it’s oak-aged. I love the taste, and don’t like how bland it is when it’s in steel!

Isn’t it so funny how different people’s wine preferences are? I wish I was a red wine drinker. So heart healthy, but the headaches are not worth it to me!

Totally donut… too lazy to spell it out the other way haha. Krispy Kreme 100% and White wine, although I’m trying to love red more – way better for you / a lot less sugar. I have not ready any 50 Shades books, but my boyfriends mom has and she loved them! Haha. Hope you have a fabulous Friday! : )

Same! haha Doughnut is just way too high maintenance! Ohmygoodness my mother in law read the 50 Shades books and always wants to talk about them with me and I’m like this is way too awkward!! haha

haha Doughnut just seems too high maintenance for me. I like the simplicity of donut.

I love that your cat photobombed your wine pic! I do like red wine. So cool you got a free subscription to RockMyRun! That actually sounds right up my alley, as I tend to listen to Pandora when I run. I just like a good mix. Have a great weekend!

Agh! I did not realize it was national doughnut day! I am seriously leaving my house in a bit, and I am going to make an extra stop!

I think I go back and forth on the spelling of doughnut/donut, so I don’t mind how people write it out. I have never been to Dunkin’ Donuts, so I am going to go with Krispy Kreme!

Have a great weekend Erin. 🙂
