Weekend Snapshots
Happy Monday guys! This weekend was such a fun one I wanted to bring a blog series back from the archives to share it all with you. While I won’t be doing weekend snapshots every Monday, I feel like stopping this series completely took away a lot of personality from my blog. The good thing is with blogging, nothing’s permanent, so without further ado, here’s what I was up to this weekend.
Halloween party #1
Friday night we went to our first Halloween party of the weekend. My friend (and fellow blogger!) CheriΒ hosts the event every year. Her and her husband know how to throw a fun party. There’s always a great guest list, lots of food, and thanks to her mixologist background, incredible drinks.
Josh and I were Pebbles and Bamm Bamm this year. We had a lot of fun DIYing our costumes (I wrote a whole post about the process.) and were really happy with how they turned out.
The syringe jello shots were such a fun touch.
All the delicious food. Not pictured: buffalo chicken tenders I was all about all night.
This was probably my favorite decoration from the event!
Stirnella blogger event
Saturday afternoon I was invited to a foodie event at Stirnella with other Omaha bloggers. Stirnella is in the Blackstone District which is my favorite Omaha area. It has such a fun vibe with delicious restaurants and fun bars on every block.
The chef at Stirnella also happens to be one of my very favorites. I was so excited for all the deliciousness he was going to create!
Suffice it to say we ate well that day! I could not get enough of the burrata and pasta dishes.
And these blood orange margaritas were on point.
Some of the fabulous ladies I met at the event.
And a behind the scenes shot of how some of those food photos happened. π
Halloween party #2
Saturday night we had our second Halloween party of the weekend. This one was a Dark Oz theme hosted by Bryan and Luka. Bryan is a fabulous designer and hopefully going to decorate Josh and my future house one day. If it ends up looking anything like their house I will be very happy!
Even the porch was decorated for the theme. I loved it.
The decor was unreal. I tried my best to snap photos but it was dark. The highlight was a spinning tornado made of pages from the Wizard of Oz that I wasn’t really able to capture.
Such a fun way to serve chips!
A make your own poison station. I die.
Syringe drink mixers. Apparently this is the “in” accessory for serving cocktails.
Another great group of people, another night of fun drinks and food, another photo as Pebbles and Bamm Bamm. π
Bryan also had a psychic at the event which was so fun. Josh and I got a couples reading. It was my first reading and a lot of fun! I was told I have the wisdom of an old man and the innocence of a child. I feel like that is 100% my personality in a nut shell.
Lazy Sunday morning
After back to back Halloween parties Josh and I slept in and took it easy Sunday morning.
We cleaned the apartment, Josh made this delicious lentil paneer Blue Apron dish, and then my cousin came over to visit! She’s in town from New Jersey for the next few months for a medical rotation. I was so excited when I found out. Being away from any and all family can be really hard!
The weather was perfect so we went and sat up on the rooftop to catch up. It was so great to see her. I’m excited to spend a lot more time with her while she’s here in Nebraska!
Josh’s birthday event
Sunday evening we met up with some of our friends to celebrate Josh’s 33rd birthday. It’s not until next Friday but the timing worked out for everyone to get together then. We went to Bruno’s Pasta to try it out since it had recently opened where Salt 88 used to be.
I got the cacio e pepe. The noodles were great but the dish was missing flavor. (As were a few other’s noodle dishes.) Others who ordered the pizza raved about it so I would recommend that instead!
The birthday boy with his bread pudding. (Which was unreal!) I’m bummed this photo is blurry but it was great getting to celebrate this incredible guy.
Questions of the Day: Did you dress up for Halloween this year? Do you celebrate Halloween on the weekend or on the day of? What was a highlight of your weekend?
