Friday Five

February 27, 2015 28 Comments

Happy Friday! I’m so excited for the weekend. I’m looking forward to time with friends, time with Josh, and time to sleep!

Here’s five things I’m loving this Friday:

tumblr_nkcjuq8Tdr1tnacy1o1_500

1. This photo is crazy. What color is this dress?! I originally saw white and gold but then when showing Josh saw blue and black. Now I’m able to switch back and forth between the two by thinking about it which kind of creeps me out. Wired explains the science behind why this picture is dividing the Internet.

2. Tell me these are not some of the cutest workout pants you’ve ever seen! Liquido sent me this outfit that they designed in collaboration with Tiffany Cruikshank and I am in love. This is an example of printed workout pants done right. They’re opaque, high-quality, and not shiny! I’m wearing these pants, this top, and this bra. I’ve been wearing this outfit to walk on the treadmill and listen to podcasts after work. I love how they feel, and how they bring a little brightness to my day. 😀

3. Molly, Erica and I are going wine tasting this weekend! I’m so excited to learn more about Nebraska wineries and spend time with girlfriends.

4. I know everyone always wants what they don’t have but I really wish I had curly hair. I loved how my hair looked for the Heart and Stroke Ball. I used the Kiss InstaWave and was amazed at how easy it was to use. I simply put a piece of hair in front of the wand, pressed a button, and it curled it. (Which is perfect for me since I’m seriously hair challenged!) I was done with my hair in less than 20 minutes! I’m excited to curl my hair more often!

5. Sometimes I wonder the most random things about my blog. This week I realized how excited I get when a blogger I love replies to a comment I leave them. I also realized how indifferent I am to comments from bloggers that reply back to every comment on their blog with a simple thanks or totally!. I end up ignoring most of their replies because I just don’t find them worthwhile. I’ve gone through phases where I never responded to comments (when I first started blogging and didn’t know better), to where I respondeded to every comment (before I started my current job), to now where I only respond to comments if someone has a question or concern. I want to know what you guys prefer.

How would you like me to handle comments? I learn so much from your comments, but don’t want you to feel shortchanged because you’re not getting a response back from me. I never want the comments section to be a one way street. Please let me know if this is something I need to prioritize! I created a quick little survey and would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks so much!

I cannot for the life of my see Black and Blue. I’ve tried, but even in a post I read that showed how the color changed I still saw hints of gold in what was supposed to be black.
I love those floral pants, seriously, so much!
    Have a wonderful weekend Erin.

Thanks Andrea! I hope your weekend was great! I’m in love with the floral pants, which is crazy because I used to hate printed workout pants.

That blue/black, white/gold is mystifying. It shows how complex the human brain is!

How crazy is that dress debate? I swear I see white and gold. Scott swears it’s black and blue. We spent at least 15 minutes going back and forth arguing our points last night, lol. Have fun wine tasting! So much fun. And, gosh, I go through phases with comments. Depending on how much time I have that day, I go from answering most comments to only the ones with questions. It’s hard to know what readers are looking for!

Josh and I saw different colors too! It’s so crazy.

Judging from my survey readers said they would like their comments answered but want the comment to appear in the email and not have to click through. Ask and you shall receive! haha

Same here!!! I saw white and gold yesterday and was so confused as to how some people saw it in black and blue… Then I saw it in black and blue this morning… And now looking at this one, it’s white and gold again! haha Seriously blows my mind. (And creeps me out at the same time)

I respond to basically every one of my comments… sometimes it is a “thanks” if it isn’t something that required a response (or was relevant) but i love when people give me more context and ask questions and I can give a thorough response!

I agree! More in-depth comments are much better. According to my survey my readers would like me to respond to comments but to have the email include the comment and not click-through to the post to see the comment. Ask and you shall receive!

That dress is so crazy! I immediately saw blue & black while the fiance saw white & gold (which I still don’t see white & gold anywhere). A winery tour sounds so much fun, can’t wait to see your recap about it!
