It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
One of the trees at work went up Friday night as I was leaving and it got me all excited. I took it as a sign to switch to the Christmas music station and start pulling out the Christmas decorations at home.
Josh and I didn’t get to start decorating immediately that night as we had tickets to see Black Violin. I played the violin growing up so I was pretty excited for this show. These guys blend hip hop with classical musical and it is beyond phenomenal. They had us up out of our seats dancing to Jay Z and Mozart.
Saturday was frigid. I went from no coat at all on Friday to all the winter layers. If I can’t feel my face at least my hat is cute. 😉
Our walk was worth the cold because we were going to La Buvette for their Beaujolais wine celebration.
Beaujolais is a French holiday wine that is released at 12:01am on the 3rd Thursday of November each year with fireworks and a huge celebration. 12:01am French time is actually the middle of the afternoon for us. We wanted to get in on that party.
The wine was fabulous. I’m not normally a red fan and I loved it. We paired our wine with some delicious cheese and hummus plates and made an afternoon out of the event.
For dinner Josh made butternut squash risotto for us from Blue Apron. He’s been a huge fan of their service and ordering it pretty regularly. I don’t complain because then I get delicious homemade meals like this one!
Our Saturday night was wild and crazy. We went to a Bingo hall! I grew up playing Bingo with my grandma in Church basements so I was super excited to go with Josh.
This Bingo was intense! First off, I didn’t know there were halls dedicated just to Bingo. Second off, I didn’t know you could play this many boards at once! And there were some people playing even more! While we didn’t win, we had a ton of fun, and met some really nice people. We plan on making this a winter tradition!
Sunday was for relaxing and cleaning and watching all the Bravo shows. At night Josh and I picked up Voodoo Taco and went to Spirit World for their brandy and beer tasting. The event was packed and so much fun. I just wish it wasn’t on a Sunday. 😉
Now I’m off to work to work my one workday this week before heading to Connecticut for the holidays! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this week!
Questions of the Day: What was the highlight of your weekend? Are you traveling this week? Have you been to a Bingo hall? What’s your favorite instrument?
You had a great and perfect jammed packed weekend. All those different cheeses look yummy.
Omg they were so good!!
I for one am NOT ready for Christmas. Because that means that it is time for thr snow to come!
I think I need French wine to placate me…
It kept me warm the whole walk home! 😀
Your beanie is so cute!
My FIL played the viola professionally and taught at USC for 30 years. I love classical music, but this sounds like an intriguing twist! My favorite instrument in a symphony is the oboe — it totally gives me the feels — but I have to go with the drums as my all time favorite. #drummermom
Thank you! It’s Tory Burch, I got it for like 75% off in the summer and tucked it away in my closet until cold weather came. 😀
Oooh, isn’t Beaujolais the best? We went to a tasting as well! The highlight of my weekend was definitely brunch with friends, though. Rock/hip hop violin sounds so fun! My heart will always belong to the clarinet, though.
The clarinet is a beautiful instrument! I always wanted to play the flute!
oh my gosh that tree!!! what a great weekend.
I love Bingo! I keep suggesting it as an activity to do, but my hubs just laughs it off. Looks like you had an eventful weekend!
I love your hat Erin!
This weekend sounds and looks like so much fun!! It was raining here in California and the temp dropped below 60 degrees so it’s actually starting to feel like the holidays here too 🙂
Such a fun post! I’m already listening to Christmas music too…that wine event looks so fun and the butternut squash risotto looks phenomenal! Thanks for hosting 🙂
looks like an awesome weekend 🙂
I went to a bingo hall in high school with one of the older waitresses I worked with, I was shocked by how intense it was. People had like four paper boards and 2 digital ones, meanwhile I could barely keep track of my four squares. Definitely a fun time though, but I think I’ll take that wine and snacks instead 🙂
Fun weekend, doll! I cannot believe Christmas is JUST around the corner!
Looks like an awesome weekend! Love that huge tree….I can only imagine how long that took to put up! Ugh so much wine and cheese girl, I haven”t even had dinner yet- but i am having wine right now 😉 Also- yes it seems winter came overnight. lol
I just recently heard of Black Violin, sounds like a cool duo!
