Weekend Snapshots

July 4, 2016 19 Comments

Happy 4th of July! How was your weekend? I unfortunately was under the weather and spent most of the weekend sleeping, but tried to make the most of the holiday nonetheless. And I have today off for a little extra R&R which I’m really looking forward to. Don’t forget to link up to your weekend snapshots at the end of this post.

4th of July Her Heartland Soul

Friday night after work (when I was still feeling well) Josh and I headed downtown to celebrate First Friday. We checked out some local art galleries and enjoyed a nice night out.

We ended the night with drinks at Mercury, a new bar that just opened. Josh tried out their cocktails while I enjoyed a diet coke with lime juice. It’s a delicious combo!

Saturday I didn’t leave the house so Sunday to keep from going stir crazy Josh and I went on a walk around town. We discovered this 3D mural and had some fun with it.

It was great getting to spend time out and about with my favorite guy. 😀

So I could rest we cancelled most of our 4th of July plans, but we had nonrefundable tickets to see the fireworks show from the Missouri River on the River City Star.

I felt like I had to do my civic duty to party like a patriot. (You know, if patriots stayed sober and sipped water the whole night. 😉 )

It ended up being totally worth it to see the fireworks show like this. Happy Birthday America! 😀 And what a view, Omaha!

I hope that you are feeling better! I remember going to art galleries with my parents back in the day. I used to love it–I wonder how Alex would feel about it! Have a great week, and feel better!

If you guys do go together I hope you have a blast! First Fridays are so fun because all the galleries are open late and they have music and wine and food. A lot of cities celebrate!

Great George Washington tee! He was, after all, the last good President, in my opinion! Ha!

    Happy 4th of July!

Yes, fireworks from a boat are the best! It feels like a summer tradition, but I haven’t done it in years. Sorry you had to change your plans- feel better soon!
