Happy Monday! I hope your day is off to a good start and that you had a wonderful weekend.
Josh and I spent part of ours cheering on the Huskers at The Big Red Block Party. It was such an awesome party put on by the Junior League of Omaha to raise money for charity. We ate, we drank, and we had a wonderful time meeting new people. It was my first group event outside of the new member meetings and Josh’s first time experiencing the League. We had a blast. I just wish the game ended better for Nebraska.
Aside from the game we had a really chill weekend this week. My poor guy is sick, so there was a lot of couch time. I’m hoping all the rest will help him feel better for teaching his classes tomorrow. I’m not sick but I definitely enjoyed this candy corn popcornwhile watching Despicable Me 2. 😀 I thought the flavor was great. Candy corn and pumpkin are two of my favorite fall flavors.
To try and not be a total sloth this weekend, I made sure to get in a sweaty Zumba session. I was dragging and did not want to go to class but was so happy once I was there. It’s amazing what exercise can do for your mood and energy levels.
Sidenote, but if anyone is looking for a gym in Omaha I can’t recommend Prairie Life enough. It’s rated the best gym in Omaha, and for $40 a month I get Zumba, Barre, Cycling and Pilates classes. When I hear the cost of good gyms in some cities it blows my mind. I’m so grateful to have affordable options near me.
In case you’ve been counting down the days like I have, kabocha squash has finally arrived in Omaha! Josh and I were doing our grocery shopping at Whole Foods when I stopped a produce guy to ask when kabocha was expected to come in. He told me he had a box in the back and he could bring it out for me. I almost did a happy dance in the aisle. I have been looking for kabocha ever since I first tried it in Hawaii. Expect a soup recipe coming your way this week!
I’ve been craving eggs lately. So simple but so good.
Josh has been dying to get the butternut squash soup from Panera now that it’s back in season. Every time he went to the one by his work they’ve been out of the soup! I’m so happy this weekend his dreams could come true. I enjoyed every bite of this meal and can say without a doubt that Panera’s squash soup is the best squash soup I’ve ever had.
I spent some time on my mat doing my favorite Pilates workout. I mentioned before that I’ve been feeling really tired lately and have just not been feeling my workouts. It was great to do something that was both relaxing and strengthening. I’m making it a goal to do Pilates at least once a week.
Questions of the Day: What were you up to this weekend? Did your football team win? What’s a seasonal flavor you look forward to every year?

What a sweet employee @ Whole Foods. That’s just one reason why I love going there. Such great customer service!
As for football – Penn State had a BYE but my Packers kicked some Vikings booty on Thursday 🙂

I’m hoping Penn State brings it next week after that sad loss the other week. 🙁
I know, Whole Foods is seriously the best!

My favorite team is Notre Dame! This season is so fun! (Always a fan, but it’s more fun when they win, obviously!) I don’t think I’ve ever tried squash soup so I will have to soon!
Erin says
The squash soup is SO good!

Pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin. I can’t get enough of it. I used to be in the Junior League when I lived in Orlando but I haven’t joined the San Francisco chapter and have been here a couple years. Glad you got your workout in … doesn’t it make the weekend that much better when you’ve had a good sweat?
Erin says
You should look into the San Fran chapter! I love Junior League!

I love butternut squash soup though I’ve never had Panera’s. I just wish the weather would cool off here so I can get in a “soup mood.” I hope Josh is feeling better!

Thank you! Josh took a sick day today and I’m hoping it’s helping him rest up and feel better for tomorrow!
