Hey guys! I hope the beginning of your week is going well! It’s Josh’s dad’s birthday today! Happy 63rd John! I hope this year is your best one yet! π I’m so excited to get to celebrate in person this weekend! Here’s hoping the rest of this week flies by!
I thought it would be fun to do another Veggie Reviewed. This one features some awesome products that have some great deals for you guys! I hope you enjoy!
Okay, so let me begin this review by saying I’m in love with falafel. I tried it for the first time when I worked at a Turkish restaurant in high school and I could not get enough. Since then I’ve tried a lot of falafel. When Falafel Republic reached out to me and asked if I’d like to sample some of their products I was very excited to get to enjoy some more falafel.
I received their Traditional Falafel, Roasted Garlic Falafel, andΒ Traditional Falafel with Hummus. All of their products are all natural, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free and made with no GMOs. They are also super quick to make, they only need 25 seconds in the microwave. And the most important part, they taste amazing! I’ve been eating these all week. They have so much flavor but are also so light on your stomach. I love them.
Falafel Republic was so kind to let me share the love with you guys. If you would like to try Falafel Republic for yourself they’re letting me give away 50 free product coupons. Simply follow Falafel Republic on Twitter and tweet ‘@GirlGoneVeggie sent me here’. If you’re one of the first 50 people Falafel Republic will follow you back and send you a DM to request your mailing address. And then your free coupon will be on its way to you! You’re going to love them!
My next review is an awesome concept that I actually stumbled upon through a contest a while ago. Noelle at Fitness as a Way of Life held a contest for HelloFresh. HelloFresh is a meal service that takes the work out of prepping and planning a meal. You simply pick whether you’d like to feed 2, 4, or 6 people, and then they send you the recipes and ingredients for 3 meals a week. The meals are healthy the food is of high quality and the recipes are easy to follow. The food for each meal is grouped into labeled bags to make it easy to sort what you need. When I won Noelle’s contest there was only meat boxes. I asked HelloFresh if they could send me the box without the meat part of the meal and while the food was great, it wasn’t a full meal. I remember talking to Josh and saying how I wish they would create something like this for vegetarians. Imagine my surprise when I got an email from HelloFresh saying they were introducing a vegetarian box right before Christmas and that they would love for me to try it. I was very excited to review a box full of veggies!
The recipe cards are super simple to follow. One side has all the ingredients and nutritional information while the other side has step by step directions to cook the meal. The picture illustrations are very helpful.
For my first HelloFresh meal I decided to make Lean and Green Pasta. It had brown pasta and broccolini and snap peas in it and was so incredibly good. I made it at Josh’s while he was at a meeting and when he came home the first thing he said was how great the house smelled. The only thing I changed about the recipe was subbing Greek yogurt for sour cream. As a vegetarian protein is really important and GreekΒ yogurt is a great way to bulk up a meal and scale back on unnecessary fat at the same time. My recommendation to HelloFresh is that they get rid of the sour cream, the Greek yogurt tastes exactly the same in the dish and is way better for you!
HelloFresh was so kind to share a discount with me to pass along to you guys. If a box of fresh ingredients and delicious recipes sounds like something right up your alley they’re offering Girl Gone Veggie readers 30% off their meals purchase until the end of January. My last review is one my dad enjoyed just as much as me. We’re BIG Hershey’s fans in this house. We grew up going to Hershey Park for field trips (I performed at their Music in the Parks with my orchestra when I was younger and it’s where the State competition was held every year for FBLA.) and my fridge always has at least five Hershey’s bars in it at a time. (I’m not kidding.) Lots of people wax poetic about fancy chocolates but to me the best tasting chocolate is Hershey’s. I was recently contacted by Hershey’s with information about the benefits of dark chocolate and sent a package of their Bliss dark chocolates and all natural cocoa powder to enjoy. Growing up I loved milk chocolate but now I only eat dark. At first it was because dark chocolate was more healthy for you but now it’s because it tastes so much better to me. It’s crazy how your taste buds can change! The same thing happened when I switched from 2% milk to skim. Speaking of milk, it is a great companion for chocolate. π
Hershey’s sent me this very cool poster on the nutritional benefits of natural cocoa and dark chocolate. I love things like this and found it interesting so I thought it would be fun to share with you!
I don’t know about you but that makes me want to eat some chocolate! π

YUM! I loooooove me some falafel!!! Lately, I’m really lovin’ on this drink I found through Fitfluential called Drink Chia. It’s kind of like GAtorade only better ingredients and with a lot of chia seeds floating in it – which at first I thought would be weird. Now I’m totally obsessed!
Erin says
I need to try Drink Chia! I’ve heard such good things about it!!

Mmmm, falafel! I’ll have to check out this brand since it’s gluten free. My sister loves falafel as well but was diagnosed with Celiac. She’s going to be so excited!
Erin says
Yay! I’m so excited for your sister to get to enjoy delicious falafel, it’s seriously amazing. I’m getting tested for Celiac, here’s hoping I don’t have that!
Adrienne says
Eek! I try to stay away from chocolate companies involved in child slave labor. The chocolatier gets most of their cocoa from West Africa, and promised in 8 whole years it will stop! Yikes!
Look for artisanal chocolates (gotta love the small businesses) that are certified Fair Trade!
Erin says
Ohh I was not aware of that. I’ll have to look into that more, thanks!
Andrea says
I love falafel and I LOVE this chocolate infographic! Chocolate is just so so delicious and I’ve noticed that unlike other sweets, it doesn’t leave me craving 109230823 more sweet- I feel really satisfied!!
