Now that we’re married, a lot of people would say our dating anniversary doesn’t really matter. But our first date was also the first time we ever met. (Online dating for the win!) So what may seem like a small event to some people now that we’re husband and wife is still pretty huge to me. My favorite person in the world has been in my life for three years now. I’ve had three years of waking up every day feeling cared about and loved.
To celebrate three years with my soul mate (corny, but true) I thought it would be fun to have a little staycation. The Element by Westin is the hotel Josh’s work put us up at when we were apparment hunting. It was my first time in Omaha and I remember being blown away by all the city had to offer, and so excited about our future. I also fell in love with the hotel. We joked that if we didn’t find an apartment we liked we’d be more than happy to live in the hotel. We ended up finding the perfect apartment just a half mile from the hotel, but the Element will always hold a special place in our heart. When we were given the opportunity to stay there this past Saturday night we were ecstatic.
We checked in, got all dolled up, went out for drinks, dinner, and saw Last Vegas (great movie!). We then came back to the hotel and curled up in the world’s comfiest bed and watched Lady Gag on SNL. (She was surprisingly good!) The next morning we lounged around, enjoyed the best complimentary breakfast I’ve ever had, and then headed back home. It was nice to have time to relax and focus on each other, free of distractions and technology. I love that we didn’t have to travel father than our backyard to do so. Hmm…a staycation with my husband and none of my 4 kids. Paradise! But also because my husband and I haven’t been alone in SOOO long. He and I were actually separated for 6 months and he recently moved back in. So it would be nice to be able to reconnect!

I would LOVE to give this staycation to my cousins. They delivered a baby boy at 23 weeks and I’m sure could use a night together. It has been a tough year for them as they watch their baby grow in the NICU.
How much fun!! Of course Kevin and I would LOVE to win a staycation! I think that would be a great way for us to spend our 1 year in February! We still haven’t explored that part of Omaha, and it would be a great opportunity!
I am fairly new to Omaha and would love to see more around Midtown! I think this would be a great way for me and my wife to spend some quality alone time, A lot of the time we are so busy and have opposite schedules. This sounds like a great staycation!

I would love as staycation at the Westin! My fiancé and I are currently in a long distance relationship for the first time since we started dating. I am in grad school and he is still back in St. Louis looking for a job up where I am at. I didn’t want him to move until he found a job he loved as much as his job in St. Louis. We stayed at a Westin during our honeymoon too! Also, I love celebrating our dating anniversary. We met on a blind date, so that’s the beginning of our story too. We will celebrate 5 years in January!

I think my husband and I have been on three dates in the last two and a half years. (Four if you count the time we signed our mortgage papers. We got a sitter for that. I don’t count it!)

We celebrated our 8 year anniversary 2 weeks ago and our dating anniversary will be in a few weeks on the 13 and our engagement anniversary date is on December 12th. So we have lots to celebrate with a staycation! Clearly, we are with you: we celebrate the dating anniversary, too! A good marriage always celebrates the little things. 🙂

I love Westin’s and have been curious about the Element. I had never heard of it before the sign went up in Midtown. With 2 kids and no grandparents nearby, we would definitely figure out a way to have the kids cared for while we have our 1st stay in a hotel w/o kids in over 2 years.
