The past few days have been a blur of unpacking. My goal is to not feel like we’re living in boxes by my first day at work on Monday. Fingers crossed I reach that goal! I took a break today for a wonderful meetup with Ashley that I’ll be blogging about next week and have a meetup.com meetup tomorrow. Through the wonder that is the Internet there is an Omaha bloggers meetup on Sunday, August 18th. So far 11 bloggers has RSVPed. Please email me if you would like to come as well so I can add you to the head count. I’m really excited!
Here’s a few other things I’ve been loving lately:
Our new car! I’m seriously in love and it is such an upgrade from my old 2000 Dodge Neon. I can’t hate on that car too much though, after finding it dirt cheap in a Walmart parking lot it lasted me my five years in Williamsport. It will be nice to have a car I’m not worried about breaking down every five seconds.
Oh the things you find at Walmart. I’m pretty sure I would be a minion if I was a cartoon character in another life. I’m obsessed with them. Awkward but true fact: Josh and I talk to each other in those minion voices all the time. And we’ve been doing it long before we ever saw or head of the movies. If this had been a stuffed animal and not a pinata I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
My new Under Armour Spine Vice sneakers are amazing. Not only are they cute, they’re super comfy while working out.
Speaking of working out, I’m in love with the gym in my apartment. For indoor running you really can’t beat the view.
Josh is the sweetest. He surprised me with flowers from the local Farmers Market. They have been brightening up our kitchen table all week and making me smile every time I pass them by.
I smile just thinking about the sunshine muffins from Urban Abbey. They’re made with walnuts, blueberries, strawberries, and bananas and are absolutely delicious. I’m hoping to grab another at the Farmers Market this weekend.
It was pretty cool spending a night out by a fire bar enjoying a drink in Midtown Crossing. All that was missing was s’mores!
My big girl job present to myself. I’ve needed a new Pilates mat for a long time and figured I’d treat myself. It’s pretty awesome!
My in-laws are also pretty awesome. They surprised me with this sweet note and package of chocolate covered strawberries the other day.
Most of all I’m loving discovering a new city with my husband. It truly feels like we’re creating a new life here in Omaha and nothing makes me happier.
Question of the Day: Aside from the fact it’s Friday (yay!), what’s making you smile lately?
Those sunshine muffins look great! And congrats to your new job, too! This Friday makes me happy because I think I’m off to IDEA world and will hopefully meet up with a bunch of FF peeps. 😉
You got a Honda Fit? I have had mine since 2008, at and 61k miles, it still runs perfectly. Congrats on having some such a great week! And maybe pass some of the job vibes to me! Interviews next week and eeek.
Yes! I’m loving it! We really wanted a safe, reliable car. Good luck on interviews next week! You’re going to rock it!
Congrats on the job!! I know you are excited. I’ve been off all summer (I’m a teacher) and I’m excited to start back next week as well. I’m excited to meet my new students 🙂
Oh I hope getting back to school has been going well! I used to love getting ready to go back to school!
Thanks for reminding me of my very first car – a dodge neon!! That beauty lasted a lot longer than I ever thought it would but it was heaven to upgrade once I got my first bug girl job. Enjoy your new ride!
Thanks so much! My new car is a definite upgrade but the Neon still holds a special place in my heart! 😀
What an awesome view from the treadmills – I would love to have a view like that to watch the weather. Instead I’m in the basement unaware of anything going on outside.
Aww that stinks! But yay for treadmills at all! I thought I would hate them when I started running but I actually kind of like them.
It looks like you are adjusting great! Can’t wait to read about your blogger meet-ups. Love the new car!
Aw thanks girly! I’m getting excited for the meet up but nervous as well!
Ah, the first year of marriage – lol everyone asks you how’s married life…and I always responded “the same” 😉 I am obsessed with Minions right now, I try to take them home from Universal Studios but no dice every time ((shrug))
hahaha Omg I would totally try and take them home too!
That I have the day off 🙂 That’s making me smile! hehe
Days off are awesome!!
I cannot wait for all of these fun meet-ups! See you tonight! 🙂
The meetup is going to be fun!!
Exciting stuff going on! Can you post a review of The Mat after you use it? I’ve been considering getting one.
Absolutely! I’ve been loving it so far but I’ll definitely post a more in-depth review in the future.
Ohh your new shoes are AMAZING! I’m obsessed with the colors :D. Congrats on the new car as well, that must be so exciting!
Thank you! Neon workout clothes are one of my favorite things. haha
Love that gym view!!
Me too!!
I just won tickets to the Fenway park show with Jay Z and Justin Timberlake show..so pumped! Glad you are settling in so well, and congrats on the new job!
Omg!! He’s coming to Omaha and I can’t wait!
Awww, what pretty flowers! What a sweetie. 🙂 The hubby and I getting off work somewhat early today is making my Friday. Woohoo!
Getting out of work early is really nice! I love fresh flowers, they brighten my day! 😀
With all these meet ups and connections you’re making with local bloggers, you’ll know more about this city than me in a week or so, I figure. Glad you’re liking your new city!
I’m loving the city!! And I just wanted to confirm that you knew the venue changed from Amataos for the meetup?
Biking has me smiling lately! I’m sure you could appreciate the Wabash Trace Nature Trail, across the river in Iowa; it’s nearly 60 mi. of cycling goodness! I’ve been riding it 3x a week; got nearly 90 mi. in the past 7 days. Give it a try, it’s worth it!
I’ll have to try that! I love biking!
Yes, Erin, I heard about the change of location. Thanks! Tagging on to what Erin O. said about the Wabash Trace, Thursday nights are the Taco Ride on the trail where hundreds, sometimes more than a 1000, riders hit the trail for the short ride up to Mineola for drinks and cheap food. It’s a lot of fun, though you’ll come across a lot of idiots on the trail with no bike light and too much alcohol.
