Today was a low key day. I woke up to see it was sleeting outside and the ground was covered in snow. I figured this was a sign to get the things I needed to get done out of the way and then spend some time cuddled up on the couch with a warm blanket. So the school thing happened and I got some blog work done, and then I got to relax for a little while. It felt really nice. In the spirit of happiness here are some things I’m loving:
Chobani Bites. I’ve been wanting Chobani to come out with some dessert flavors for a while. Now that they’re out I’m so happy to say they completely lived up to my expectations. I love the pineapple and caramel combo and the dark chocolate and raspberry combo. It’s such a tasty little pick-me-up for the middle of the day. Also how awesome is that spoon? Not going to lie, I feel like a Greek yogurt rock star when I use it.
Filing my taxes. I should be specific, I’m not loving that I had to file taxes, I’m loving that they’re done. I’ve worked since I was 14 but never usually made enough to have to pay any taxes up until high school. (Working part time for minimum wage will do that.) I’ll never forget my first year of college when I thought I would still be exempt from having to file taxes so I didn’t have any money taken out all year. I worked three different jobs that year. Needless to say I learned a big lesson hard. Since then I always have way more taken out than I need to so I get refunds. Holla for a dolla!
Wedding planning. It is getting so real, our wedding is only five months away! My bridal shower with Josh’s side of the family is in two weeks and my sister has been yelling at me over the phone that I need to get her everyone’s addresses on my side of the family so she can send out invites for that shower. Crate and Barrel and Bed Bath and Beyond boxes are currently eating my house. My dad is not very happy about this. Josh and I also have the predicament of not having enough stuff on our registry list. Apparently you are supposed to register for double and triple the amount of people you are inviting. We registered for a few dozen items less than the amount of guests we are having. We just don’t need that much stuff. And if we end up moving this summer we really don’t want to be loading linens and towels in a Uhaul. We’d rather have gift cards to buy those kinds of items when we get to wherever we’re going to be next year. We’re still trying to figure out how to handle this.
Moose Munch. I bought this on a whim the other day. Shopping hungry at T.J.Maxx will do that to you. Josh’s parents are huge Harry & David fans and I’ve definitely contracted their addiction. I’m that annoying person that picks out all my favorite parts of trail mixes and food assortments and eats them before I touch anything else. I had all the dark chocolate covered popcorn in this gone in 2.2 seconds. It was so good.
Pilates. I have never met a workout that feels so easy to do while you’re doing it and then leaves you aching and burning for days afterwards. I’m currently loving Lisa Johnson’s DVD that I’ll review in more detail in another post. I told Josh when I saw him the day after doing this DVD for the first time that I felt like I was permanently holding a crunch the whole day. If you want a strong core, check out Pilates. It will shred your abs.
PB-Free NuttZo. Oh man is this stuff is incredible. I have wanted to try it forever and have recently been seeing it everywhere in the blog world. I broke down and decided to buy a jar (or two…) the other day. They’re super quick with shipping because I ordered it last Thursday and got it today! I’ll be talking about this more in another post too but suffice it to say I’m a huge fan and have already put a big dent in this jar.
Green smoothies. I love how you can pack smoothies with so many great nutritional add-ons and as long as you add a banana and some sweeter fruit it will still taste great. This kale and spinach smoothie has chia seeds, hemp protein powder, and nutritional yeast added in. I’m trying to eat more nutritional yeast. One tablespoon has 100% of my daily B12. This was the first time I added it in to my smoothie and I’m so glad I did. It didn’t affect the taste or texture in any way.
And now I’m going to love falling fast asleep and resting up for work tomorrow.
Question of the Day: What is something you’re loving?
Clara says
Oh that’s interesting I didn’t know nutritional yeast was a good source of B12. I’m a vegetarian too and I don’t really like dairy products so I’ve been looking for ways to get more B12 in. 🙂 Love your blog by the way!!!!! 🙂 🙂
Erin says
Aw thank you Clara! Yeah nutritional yeast is great, and most importantly, pretty tasteless when mixed in with other foods! It makes it so easy to get my daily recommended B12. 🙂

Registering is hard. I will say that guests like to buy gifts over gift cards. They feel more like they are contributing to the new couple’s first home. It’s hard registering for stuff but you can add things you guys would ENJOY together to the list too: games, camping equipment, whatever. Also, has your hubby-to-be thought of setting up a registry at Home Depot? Getting some quality tools comes in handy down the road and there is only so much about both linens and china patterns that most guys can take haha.
Erin says
Home Depot is SUCH a good idea! Josh loves to be handy and fix and tinker with things. It’s definitely not my cup of tea, but I’d rather get items we need instead of monogram gravy boats! haha

My dad was a CPA – even as an adult I still call him to ask questions about filling out W2s and any tax form when I am at a new job.
As for the registry – I totally agree with Madeline, guests, especially older ones like to buy gifts and not gift cards. We moved twice since our wedding. We kept some stuf in my in-laws basement, but the stuff we wouldn’t use right away (china for example) we kept in the original box and packaging so that it could be moved easily. It is a pain, but register for things you MIGHT need in the future. I wish I had registered for a really good blender, towels and other stuff, because people ended up buying stuff not on the registry and I couldn’t return it since it wasn’t bought at the place we registered. Maybe you can designate a closet or area of a room that is gifts you won’t open until you move.
Some ideas for registry items: cake cutters/servers, vases, picture frames, table cloths & matching napkins, serving platters, air tight containers (for things like flour/sugar/etc). If you need any help with ideas, let me know!
Erin says
I’m so jealous you have a CPA in the family to ask questions to! That would make my life so much easier! haha Josh and I already have so much kitchen stuff but we could definitely use tableclothes and napkins. Our problem is he currently has a round table that is really nice but we’d eventually like to upgrade to a rectangular table. I’m torn on whether to register for decorations for the circular table or just hold off and wait the few years until we get the table we will really want to decorate.

Getting Nuttzo soon and can’ wait to try it! I love the Chobani bites 🙂 They make me happy! Smoothies are great !! Doesn’t matter how cold it is!!

Have you thought of setting up a charity registry? There are some great websites like Crowdrise and Global Giving if there’s a charity or cause you both want to support.
Also, if you want to register for something big (like a house or your honeymoon), check out https://www.weddingrepublic.com/. Guests can “gift” parts of the gift (like the roof of the house or a night at a hotel), and then you get the money to use on the item/experience. It’s pretty cool.
Erin says
I love the idea of registering for a honeymoon but Josh is not a fan. I get that everyone has different feelings on the matter so we’re going to skip that option.
Maureen says
I’ll send you my address & people can send your gifts to me! lol Moose munch is addicting!
Erin says
Moose Munch is crazy addicting! haha

I have tried the coffee and raspberry bites, but cannot wait to try the others. All the Crate and Barrel boxes look fabulous. They have great stuff, I just want to rip them open for you.
Erin says
I love Crate and Barrel! I want them to decorate my entire house! haha Their furniture is the best.
Katie @ Katie Moves says
I love those bites! I just bought the carmel pinapple the other day, and can’t wait to try. I even like to put them in the freezer for a little bit and its almost like an ice cream treat! 😉
Erin says
I never thought of freezing them! Thanks so much for the suggestion!
