So I’m not sure if you guys know this about me but I LOVE a bargain. I rarely pay retail for things because I have so much more fun finding them on sale. The T.J.Maxx in State College is the best T.J.Maxx I have ever been to. It is consistently stocked with designer clothes at discounted prices. I did so well on my last shopping trip there I felt like I had to share. If you have a T.J.Maxx near you I recommend checking it out. The one by me in Williamsport doesn’t have anywhere near the brands like the State College one does, but the Home Goods section always has a treasure trove of goodies.
A recommendation I have is to always check the tags to see why it is priced the way it is. Some tags will say “if perfect” and then list what the original price would have been. If that’s the case I tend to skip it because it wasn’t accepted into a store so it’s not actually worth that price. I look for tags that say “last season” since let’s be real, seasonal styles really don’t change that much! Another tip I have is to shop in the middle of the week. T.J. Maxx clearances things in the beginning of the week so in the middle of the week you have first dibs on all the new mark downs and there’s less crowds since it’s not the weekend.
I found this C&C California sweater on sale from $118 to $15. I love off season deals.
This C&C California top and Paige shorts were both still full price for the store but still a great deal overall. The top was $19 and the shorts were $39. My only gripe with this T.J.Maxx shopping trip was the pricing of these shorts. I always go to the clearance section of a store first, and I found these really cute Jimmy Jimmy shorts on sale for $29, but they were too big on me. I figured they were such a good price I could get them tailored. But then when I was walking through the regular shorts section I noticed the same Jimmy Jimmy shorts in my size but not marked down yet. I took them both up to the register and asked if one forgot to get a clearance sticker put on it. The girl looked at them and explained they have different SKU numbers so they came in at different times. She had a manager check and the manager confirmed that even though they are identical shorts one came in before the other so she could not price match the shorts. I was pretty annoyed since I know from working at Macys we would have always price matched for the customer. $10 is a small write-off to the company in exchange for good customer service. Oh well, I just had to accept that’s not a priority to the company and move on. I still love their deals.
I got these two adorable Cynthia Steffe silk tanks. I love how they can be dressed up for work or dressed down with jeans.
They were an amazing deal. $108 to $15? I’ll take them.
Blurry cell phone pic alert! Sorry, I wasn’t planning on staying overnight in State College so I didn’t bring my camera or computer. I’m typing this up from Josh’s Lenovo. I need a few more plain v-neck t-shirts and when I saw this $10 C&C California one I was sold. If only they would have had it in black too.
I LOVE the print on this Micheal Kors top. I have to have it taken in a little on the sides, but I figure for the $23 I paid it is well worth it.
Probably the purchase I was most excited about was this Erin Fetherston dress. This was a pic I snapped on my last trip to T.J.Maxx. I was looking for a graduation dress and left empty handed because as much as I loved this dress I didn’t have time to alter it beforehand and it was too big. I had tried this dress on a few months prior in my size and fell in love with it but not with the $99 price tag. (The dress was originally $399.) When I came back graduation dress shopping it was marked down to $49 but was only available in a bigger size. When I came back yesterday and saw it was then marked down to $39 I knew I had to get it. I only need minor alterations and I am seriously in love with this dress. It’s an outfit contender for my friend Summer’s wedding this weekend.
And those were all of my awesome T.J.Maxx finds! Finding deals is like a sport to me. It’s so rewarding stretching your budget and not having to sacrifice quality or cuteness.
Questions of the Day: Did you like a post like this? I know it’s different for me, but it’s something I’m also passionate about. What’s the best deal you’ve gotten lately?

Wow, I’m impressed! I love a good bargain as well, but for some reason I always forget to check out places like TJ Maxx!

I’m the SAME WAY. And before I even step foot in stores, I always check on my smart phone for in-store coupons to use! That, combined with mega clearance searches always land me with good deals! Unless I have a gift card (and even sometimes when I do), I will never pay full price for clothing/accessories.

I remember I went to that store in Hamden and got a purple sweater…more of a work sweater. I am looking for summer clothes and may have to go there soon!
See you soon!
