Something to know about me: I’m a huge bookworm. When I was younger and all my friends wanted to play outside I’d be huddled up in my room reading books until I ‘d wake up in the middle of the night with the book on my lap and my bedroom light and glasses still on. Thankfully I’ve gotten more socially acceptable over the years but I still love the power of a good book to transport you to another place. There is something so magical about getting lost in a book. No summer vacation is complete to me without some time by the pool or ocean with a good book and a good drink. 😀
When I find a book I love I want to share it with others. And I always want to get book recommendations from friends. With summer vacations quickly approaching I thought it would be fun to do a book swap. If you’ve got a book you love and want to share with someone post it here! And if a book that someone else is giving away sounds interesting comment and claim it!
Book Swap Rules
- If a book someone is giving away sounds interesting comment and give your email address
- The person giving away the book will email you to get your address and ship the book to you at their own cost (shipping book rate is super cheap but slower than regular mail)
- If you request a book from someone you have to offer up a book to people
- Simply share the title and a brief description and review of why you liked the book
- When someone comments asking for the book email them to get their address and then mail them the book
It’s a nice little circle of book recycling! 😀
To get this party started, I’m offering up two books to whoever wants them:
Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
“The acclaimed, award-winning author of the national bestseller The Financial Lives of the Poets returns with his funniest, most romantic, and most purely enjoyable novel yet. Hailed by critics and loved by readers of literary and historical fiction, Beautiful Ruins is the story of an almost-love affair that begins on the Italian coast in 1962…and is rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later.” -From Amazon
I picked up this book in the Omaha airport on my way to Cancun because I forgot my Nook at home. (I fail at electronic reading.) It sounded interesting so I figured I’d give it a try. It ended up being the perfect beach read. It’s a beautiful mixture of humor and sadness, while being both romantic and realistic at the same time. This story is a blend of three stories that involve different characters and time periods in each chapter. That can be confusing or distracting in some books but in this one it was wonderfully done. I found myself frantically reading the last few chapters on the plane ride home to find out how the story ended. (As a sidenote: some of these pages have that slightly crinkly appearance they get after being exposed to water. It doesn’t affect the readability of the book at all. I just learned my lesson to not try and read a book while drinking a margarita in the pool. ;p)
Allegiant by Veronica Roth – CLAIMED
“What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?
The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.” -From Amazon
I read this book a few months ago and thought I had given it away. When I saw it on my bookshelf today I decided to offer it up here. I know this book has double digit waiting lists at libraries so I thought this would be good for someone wanting to finish the series. This is the third book in the Divergent trilogy. I was looking for another dystopian series to get into after I finished The Hunger Games and heard good things about this one. I ended up becoming obsessed. I pre-ordered this book on Amazon and read it within 24 hours. I literally did nothing else but read. If you haven’t read the first two books I highly recommend picking them up. Fair warning: this particular book makes me want to punch a wall but the story is still a great one.
If you’re interested in either of these let me know and leave your email address so I can contact you. First come first serve. And if you have your own books that you want to share with others please leave a comment! You don’t have to request a book to give one away.
**DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if someone says they are going to ship you a book and then don’t. I am merely the facilitator for the book swap. Let’s make this awesome! 😀
Happy reading!

such a great idea.
and really the ONLY ONLY reason I dont love my kindle!!
Erin says
I know, there’s something about the feeling of a physical book in your hand that a kindle/nook just can’t replicate!
Allison says
I would love Allegiant! I’ll have to dig through my shelves and see what I can come up with to swap.
Erin says
It’s yours! Emailing you now. I can’t wait to see what book you recommend!
Megan says
I’d love to swap with someone!! Allegiant is on my classrooms wishlist, if anyone else is looking to get rid of it. 😉
Erin says
I haven’t heard back from Allison yet so it’s possible it might still be available. If you want to list out books that you’re looking to get rid of I’m sure people would appreciate it! I can also list more I have that I’m looking to swap.
Erin says
Hey Megan! I’m going to be posting an updated post this week on what books people have to swap. Do you have any you want me to list? Unfortunately Allison claimed Allegient but hopefully someone else will have it!
Megan says
I have some Lisa Scottoline, easy to read, murder mysteries that are pretty intriguing! I also have a wide variety of easy summer beach reads! Some Elin Hildenbran, etc. I would love to send them along to someone who would enjoy them. 🙂
Erin says
Hey girly! Would you mind listing them out for me? I’m going to do an update post this week on what books are available. Thank you!
Casey @ Salted Plates says
I’d love the copy of Beautiful Ruins, that has been on my list for a while.
I have a copy of The Year of the Gadfly by Jennifer Miller that I’ve been meaning to give away to someone for a while. It’s a great read by a fun female author
Erin says
It’s yours! I’ll email you today.
Thanks for offering a book for swap! I’m going to be doing an updated blog post this week with what people have offered and will be sure to include that!
Danielle says
This is such a neat idea! I’m not sure if I have any physical books to include right now, but I’m definitely going to look.
