I’m off to Connecticut today! Living far away from family means lots of holiday travel. And while I love to travel, doing it over the holidays with eighty billion other people can be super stressful.
Thankfully over the years I’ve learned a few tips and tricks to help keep me sane when dealing with crowds, germs, and all the anxiety travel can bring.
- Pack the night before you travel, planning out what you’ll wear each day of the trip. This saves you tons of time every day you’re on vacation and ensures you won’t have to worry about forgetting to pack something you need.
- Print out physical copies of all your travel documents. Keep them all together with your drivers license and credit card in a secure spot that you can still easily access.
- Wear comfy clothes to travel. Unless you’re a celebrity, the airport is not a place to try and look cute. Travel clothes should be about utility and comfort. And layers are a great way to go if you’re worried about being too hot or too cold.
- Bring an empty water bottle that you can fill up once you get through security. This will save you tons of money and reduce plastic waste.
- Pack like five mini (under 2 ounces) hand sanitizers. Airports and airplanes are extra germ-y.
Having cute bunny slippers to look forward to wearing when you land are always a bonus.
As are lots of cat snuggles before you go. Leaving this guy when I travel always brings me the most stress. Thankfully he loves his cat sitter.
Another thing I can’t travel without? Bach Rescue products, specifically Rescue Pastilles. Made of natural flower essences, Rescue Pastilles are a gentle and non-habit forming stress reliever.
Longtime blog readers have heard me mention these before. I have been a fan for years. I pick mine up at Whole Foods and love the lemon flavor. Sucking on one of these when I’m feeling overwhelmed helps calm me down and bring me focus. Something we all need during times of stress.
And thankfully the best stress-reliever is fun times with friends and family. It makes the crazy day of travel totally worth it in the end!
Questions of the Day: Are you traveling this Thanksgiving? How do you stay calm when traveling? Have you tried Bach Rescue products before? Do these pastilles sound like something you would like?
Thank you to Bach Rescue for sponsoring this post!

These are great tips. I always start packing early and I think it’s why I always forget something important! Waiting until the night before would probably be good.
