Right now it seems like everyone and their mother is getting sick. And one of the things a lot of people do at the first sign of a cough or congestion is break out their eucalyptus products to provide relief. I’ve been smelling the sweet, minty scent of eucalyptus everywhere I go lately and it has made me realize how much I love that scent. It’s very invigorating, and so incredibly relaxing.
My love of this scent has led me down the rabbit hole of researching eucalyptus, including what it does and what it’s used for. Aside from being used by the sick, it’s also used a lot in products to promote relaxation and stress relief. Sign me up! Here are my picks for soothing eucalyptus products. Some I’ve tried and loved, while others are on my shopping list.
Volé Revitalizing Shampoo – I’ve been trying out this shampoo and conditioner while Josh was away last week. It smells amazing and is such an invigorating scent to use as I wake up in the morning. When Josh came home on Sunday one of the first things he remarked on was how shiny and healthy my hair looked!
Now Organic Eucalyptus Oil – Using this in a diffuser turns your home into a spa. Please don’t diffuse oils if you have a cat though! It’s toxic to their liver. (They’re missing an enzyme that both humans and dogs have.) Because of this I stick to diluting oils and rubbing them on my skin.
Burts Bees Lip Balm Eucalyptus Oil – This is one I have to try. Eucalyptus on my lips? The scent would be right under my nose! I’m really curious how it would feel.
Diptyque ‘Eucalyptus’ Candle – I love these candles. This is definitely a great alternative to diffusing eucalyptus oil if you have cats.
Tiger Balm Ointment HR – My in-laws got me hooked on Tiger Balm. I could seriously smell this stuff all day. While most Tiger Balms contain camphor and menthol, Tiger Balm just released a new product called Ointment HR (headache relief) that contains eucalyptus as well!
Bath and Body Works Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Lotion – Bath and Body Works has some of the best smelling soaps, hand creams and lotions. This Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint Body Lotion sounds wonderful. I’m also eyeing their limited-edition hand wash in the same line.

I’ve heard so many good things about Tiger Balm – I need to check it out. Have you used it for sore or achy muscles?
Erin says
I have not, I’ve been lucky to not have many muscle pains to deal with, but my in-laws love it for those very purposes! I’m just obsessed with the smell. They actually included some in my Christmas stocking because they knew I loved it so much!! haha

I love eucalyptus and actually just bought the Now brand essential oil AND diffuser from a local health food store yesterday. I slept with the diffuser last night and it was awesome. I am a fan of eucalyptus, peppermint, verbena, lemon/ citrus, and other earthy scents. I also like to keep some oils at my desk at work for a mid day “pick me up.” Cheers! oxoxo
