I was so excited to find this package waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday:
Gina’s blog, Fitnessista, is one of the first blogs I ever started reading. Through her recipes and workouts she inspires me to make healthier choices and I love getting to read about her and her Pilot (and now her little girl!). When I heard she was making a dance DVD I was so excited. I grew up Irish dancing and am a huge Zumba fan. Dancing is one of my favorite ways to exercise because it doesn’t feel like work, it just feels fun. When I was offered the opportunity to review the DVD I was ecstatic.
Gina and Sasha created Sage Dance Fitness which just released it’s first workout DVD, Soli Beat. The eight dance routines are set to live drums and are heart pumping and fast paced. Josh snapped some pictures of me as I worked through the routine. Please excuse my awkwardness.
Long story short: go buy this DVD. Seriously. If you want to hear me explain why in more detail, keep reading.
I love Zumba workouts but a lot of times find myself wondering if I got in a good workout afterwards. It’s so much fun but it’s not really pushing me to my max like running, cycling, or barre does. Soli Beat took me to my limits and then pushed past them. Throughout these routines my heart was pounding and I was drenched in sweat. This was an amazing workout. And I was still having fun! Sasha is so charismatic. She’s so fun you just want to dance with her, and she can really move. Getting to “see” Gina was so cool after reading her blog for all these years. I’ve always wished I could take one of her classes and this DVD did not disappoint. It was high energy and full of spunk, just like her.
The teaching segments were so useful, they helped me master the moves so that when the dance routines came on I could shake it and feel confident in what I was doing without having to pause the DVD or replay a segment. Even though I’m sure I looked like a hot mess trying to keep up with Sasha and Gina’s unlimited supply of energy I felt like a million bucks. The drum beats really add to the workout and put some extra pep in my steps. I have no idea how they look so good while doing such an intense workout but I am so excited to add this DVD to my workout rotation. It’s exactly what I hoped it would be when I heard Fitnessista was doing a workout DVD: a real workout that’s tons of fun at the same time.
If you get this DVD I highly recommend purchasing a sash like the one I’m wearing in the pictures. It really adds to the workout experience and helped me get into the dances. This DVD is also guy approved: Josh said he really enjoyed all the shaking and shimmying. ;p
Question of the Day: Do you like dance workouts? Does Soli Beat sound like something you would enjoy?
Disclaimer: I was provided this DVD to review. All opinions are 100% my own.

I feel like dancing in my living room is the only way you will see me shake and shimmy these days haha.

I tend to dance at home too. ;p Outside of Zumba I need a few drinks to get me to start shaking in public. haha

The Fitnessista is the first blog I started reading too! It totally changed how I eat and it was my first insight into vegetarian food. I don’t think Zumba is my thing but I do LOVE dancing 🙂
