One day, clean eating and healthy living will be second nature to me. Working out will be a part of my everyday life, I’ll shun the wine, pass on the processed food, and eat leafy greens for most of my meals. As much as I wish living that way came easily to me, it doesn’t. I crave sweets, wine, cheese, Scandal marathons, and long naps on the couch. And so I rollercoaster between being good, falling off the wagon, and starting the process all over again. I’m human, and figure I only really fail if I ever stop trying to improve.
One of the areas of my life I’ve been trying to improve is my snacking habits. At work there is always a line-up of chocolates, donuts, bagels, and birthday cakes. We’re a social floor that enjoys celebrating with food. As fun as those celebrations are, the snack indulgences add up. I’ve been realizing lately how important it is to be mindful of my snack intake. A half a bagel and a glass of wine might not seem like much but that can add up to an extra meal’s worth of calories! That’s not so good if you’re trying to lose weight.
I’ve realized that it’s really important for me to set myself up for success. And one of the ways to do that is to have healthy snack alternatives on hand. I’m going to get hungry, that’s a biological part of life. But when those snack cravings strike, it’s a lot easier to pass on the donuts if I have another yummy snack nearby.
My friends at Made in Nature recently sent me some of their snacks to try. You guys, these are snacks I can feel good about.
Kale chips with truffle oil?! This is like my dream. I love kale chips because they taste like they’re unhealthy but they’re not. And these were SO good. Like gone in a flash good. Thank goodness the entire package is only 220 calories!
I was sent some samples of all their various snacks. I was impressed at how many different options they have. There’s really something for everyone.
I love dried fruit because it’s sweet, but from a good source (Extra bonus points for it being organic!). And fruit and nuts are usually cut up into smaller pieces. I find a lot of times that my satisfaction when eating comes not from the food itself, but from the chewing. The longer I chew, the fuller I feel. Smaller pieces = more to chew!
Josh’s favorite snack of the bunch were these Figgy Pops. When he saw one for the first time he couldn’t get over the look and feel of it. But once he put one in his mouth he was hooked. He loved them so much I’m sending the whole bag with him to work!

I’m the same way. One day I hope that healthy eating will just be second nature. I’m honestly baffled with how some people can just eat well all the time and never crave sweets. These look great!

I am a snacking person and always feel so guilty after I have grabbed that not so good for me to snack. I have been trying to find some stuff to snack on since I am trying to be a lot healthier in the new year. Thanks for sharing this I will be giving it a try.

These snacks look really tasty. I’m intrigued by the Maple Balsamic Fusion. I’m a balsamic vinegar junkie, but I would never have thought to pair it with maple flavor. These are some new snacks to look for! I often just forget to eat when I’m working during the day, and it’s really had a negative impact on my metabolism over the years.

Yum! Figgy pops are my favorite!

Yum! Looks good…the good thing about healthy snacks is that you eat less because number 1)They’re so much more satisfying and number 2)They’re so much more expensive, haha!
