Hello from Omaha! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. This past week flew by for me. Up until Thursday it was a race to get everything ready for our movers. We went with Mayflower and they were amazing. We’ll be getting all of our stuff this Wednesday and I can’t wait to start getting our stuff situated in our new apartment. In the meantime we’re trying to get a million things checked off our to do list and enjoy some time together in a new city as newlyweds. We’re a little short on sleep, and I haven’t unpacked my camera yet, so I only have my phone pics to recap my move so far with you guys.
Thursday night my parents came to take us out to dinner and say goodbye to us. Please excuse my appearance, I had been packing all day and had dirty hair. I also had two huge stress pimples that are finally going away. We went for Chipotle and then froyo at Kiwi. Saying goodbye to my parents at the end of the night was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Giving my dad a hug and not knowing when the next time I’ll be giving him a hug again tore me up inside. (He’s coming to visit in October but I was feeling dramatic in the moment.) I feel so lucky to have the close relationship with my parents that I do.
Friday we woke up at 4am and headed to the airport. I lucked out in the friend department. Thursday night Lily and Pierce not only came over to say goodbye, they helped us clean out Josh’s apartment, and then offered to let us stay at their house that night so we wouldn’t have to sleep on the floor. It was Lily’s birthday, so I’m so glad we got to celebrate with them. We opened a bottle of Moet champagne Josh and I got at the wedding and had some cookie cake. It was so much fun and I felt super fancy! They then woke up early with us to drive us to the airport. They are seriously amazing and I’m going to miss them a lot. 🙁
Our flights to Omaha went perfectly. Each one arrived early and was smooth from start to finish. We also got to enjoy lots of Biscoff cookies. Thanks Delta! Getting the keys to our new place was a surreal experience. Josh and I LOVE our new apartment. It’s everything we could want in a place and we’re so excited to make it our own. Josh walked to a local market to pick up cheerios and fresh milk for us for breakfast. That’s when we realized we didn’t pack any bowls in our suitcases. Womp womp. So Cheerios out of cups it was!
Eventually we made it to the store for disposable bowls. And a Costco membership. And a million other things we realized we would need in our apartment. Moving has been stressful but wonderful at the same time. I won’t lie and say I didn’t have a little bit of a meltdown after waiting in line at the DMV for over an hour with all my paperwork only to be told my Social Security Card didn’t count for valid proof of my name change. I was told I need to bring my marriage certificate which is on our moving truck. I have planned this move as much as I possibly could, down to daily lists of what we need to accomplish each day. I wanted this transition to be as seamless as possible. While the lists have been helpful Josh has helped me see that not everything is going to go according to plan, and that’s okay. So what that I get my new license three days later than planned? In the long term it’s a minor set back. In the meantime I’m enjoying exploring and experiencing a whole bunch of firsts with my best friend.
We’re having so much fun decorating our apartment. We picked up this curtain for our coat closet. I love how it looks.
And we found artwork for our bedroom. I am in love with this.
We went out to dinner at Kona Grill. These flatbread pizzas were amazing.
And we went to the weekly wine tasting at Brix. Josh and I want to learn more about wine and figure this is a great way to do so while also hopefully meeting new people. We need Omaha friends! haha
Tonight was spent watching the sunset over the city from our rooftop deck. The number one thing I’ve felt throughout this entire experience is blessed. I am so grateful for this new chapter in my life and so excited to see where it takes me.
Question of the Day: What have you been up to while I moved? Catch me up!

Omaha is a very cool city. My son lived there years ago and I always liked visiting. I’m glad you’re settling in nicely!

Moving can be the most stressful thing ever! It takes so much out of you and is exhausting, but I love the decorations you guys have already put up!
Jenny @ simply be me says
What a great view! I haven’t moved in many years but I always find it such a rewarding process – the purging and then revamping how you want your living space to look and feel.
My workplace also issues driver’s licences and I must say you are totally on top of things – people tend to wait months before going through all that 🙂
Alex @ Alex Tries it Out says
Welcome to the Midwest! I’m in Iowa, so not too far from you :).
Have you been to the zoo yet? It’s the best!

I’m glad that moving has gone so smoothly for you! That’s a huge move and I’m sure it’s stressful, but you seem to be handling it well! My Husband and I plan on moving from Florida to Michigan in a year and half and it is definitely overwhelming to think about.
