I looove country music. One of my favorite things about living in Central PA is how everywhere from the doctor’s office to the school cafeteria has country music playing. I love how country music is all about telling stories, and how those stories are told with such emotion. I’ll never forget sitting in my dad’s car when I was little listening to Tracy Lawrence sing Time Marches On. That song always left an impression on me and now that I’m older I realize just how true the message is.
I grew up listening to country music thanks to my dad and its something we always had in common. When I was approached by Rascal Flatts PR department asking me if I would like to preview their new album I didn’t even have to think twice. And when my dad saw their new CD on the table he was even more excited than I was. So we’ll both be chiming in with reviews of the album in this post. ;p (Funny side note: I recently found out my mom almost didn’t date my dad because of his love of country music. She was a rock and roll kind of girl. I’m really glad she decided to see past their different music tastes!)
I’ve been a big Rascal Flatts fan since their first album in 2000. I love Gary LeVox’s voice and how he can hit those big high notes you don’t normally hear a guy sing. Their song My Wish is one of my all time favorite songs. My sister chose it for our sibling dance at her wedding last summer! <3 Needless to say I had high hopes for their new CD, Changed. It was released this week and is their first new CD in two years.
One of the things I love most about country is how it just makes you want to roll down the windows and crank up the volume while you drive.
That is exactly what I did with this CD. It came with me as I drove back and forth to work these past few days and this morning when I woke up bright and early to take my car in for an oil change. The songs are an awesome mix of fast paced, feel good beats and heart-wrenching, slow ballads.
There are 11 songs on the album and I thoroughly enjoyed every single one. My two favorites are Let it Hurt and A Little Home.
My dad’s been listening to the CD too and said he really likes it. His favorite song is Banjo, he’s been playing it in his office constantly. Rascal Flatts already has a video for it on their Vevo so I thought I’d share it here.
Changed is such a great CD with high quality songs that make you feel good and want to listen to them over and over again. If you’re looking for some new country songs for the summer I’d definitely recommend checking them out!

I haven’t heard the new CD yet (just Banjo, since it’s on the radio) and I am so excited for it! I definitely turn up my radio when that song comes on 🙂
I love Rascal Flatts and I love country music, though it’s a discovery I made within the last 4-5 years. I saw them in concert two summers ago and it was AMAZING!!
