I’ve always been a planner. I love to map out my goals, have a daily to-do list, and generally feel in control and on my A-game. Life has been amazing lately, but it has also been hectic. I’m sure you’ve noticed my blog posts have gotten pretty sporadic and my Twitter and Instagram feeds have gotten pretty quiet. I wanted to make a post to let you guys know it’s not that I’m getting tired of blogging or in any way feeling burnt out by it. So much fun stuff has been happening that I want to blog about. There’s so many cool recipes Josh and I have made, so many fun outings with friends I’ve had, so many random ramblings I’ve been wanting to share. The truth is that my life has gotten pretty full, and that blogging is taking a little bit of a backseat right now.
The things I have been prioritizing:
My job: I’m loving my job. It is amazing, and exactly what I was hoping to find after graduating college. I get to help market our business, work on social media, and be surrounded by super nice people all day. They also don’t judge me for having an exercise ball for a chair and constantly wearing a snuggie in my office.
My second job: It was an unexpected opportunity but I’m getting to help create a social media presence for my apartment building and the others properties owned by the parent company. I love the company and the people who are a part of it. It is so much fun to get to help create a brand presence for a place we love so much Josh and I chose to live here.
Spending time with my husband: Life with Josh has been pretty wonderful. We both have jobs we’re passionate about and a lot going on but we always make time for each other. Spending a Saturday grocery shopping and exploring Omaha with him is pretty much my version of a perfect day. We only get this time of being young and living in the city with no kids once. We really want to make the most of it.
My social life: That sounds like a weird thing to say but I have been so blessed to make such wonderful friends here. My calender is filled with events and it feels so good. I truly feel like Omaha is the place I was supposed to end up.
When listed like this my life sounds pretty amazing. And it is. But there are some areas in my life that I haven’t been focusing on that I really need to be. Like:
Exercise: I’ve been really bad about sticking to a consistent exercise schedule. When I get home from work I do work for my second job, eat dinner with Josh, and then lounge around. Before I know it it’s time to go to bed and I haven’t gotten a workout done. I’m wondering if waking up early to workout before work would be a better solution.
Sleep: This is probably the biggest thing I need to be prioritizing because of how it affects everything else in my life. Tired me= less effective me, less responsive me, less coherent me. I need to start instituting a bedtime and sticking with it.
Eating well: Don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t been all Krispy Kreme donuts and ice cream sundaes, but my eats have definitely been a lot less clean that I would like them to be, with way too many sweets. I need to condition myself to say no to some splurges. Food prep on the weekend is going to be my friend.
Blogging: I’m on social media so much that it’s sometimes hard to keep that up for my personal account. But at the same time blogging is a personal outlet for me that I love so much. I’ve met so many wonderful people, learned so much, and have been able to document my life along the way. I’m going to experiment with maybe three structured posts a week and scheduling lots of social media interactions on the weekend. There is only so much time in the day and this is where time management is really going to help me.
I feel like I’m trying to do it all and am coming up a little short. I’m a perfectionist and when I’m not giving my 100% to everything I’m doing it nags at me. I’m coming to the realization that life is all about give and take and that I can only juggle so many balls at the same time. I need to lounge on the couch after work less and cut back a little on my social outings so that I can go to bed earlier and get a workout in more often. I can’t even imagine how people with kids manage their time. I have a feeling I’ll be looking back on this post years from now laughing at the thought I was so busy. At the same time, all I know is my situation, and transitioning from college life to the professional world is not without a few bumps along the way.
I just wanted to let you guys know I’m still here, and that I still really, really want to be. I think it’s pretty natural for my blog to grow and change as I do. I’m so excited to get a blogging routine down so we can meet here same time, same place to catch up and chat.
Question of the Day: What are the things in your life you haven’t been prioritizing that you know you should be?

Ha! Every stage of life presents it’s own challenges. I don’t know how moms do it either. We adapt and find ways to do what we want to do. Kudos to you for taking time to survey and adjust as necessary.
I just up and quit my nasty day job so I could prioritize how I wanted. And I still found I wasn’t getting my own deadlines done. What?!
On Monday I did some time blocking and allocated one or two hour blocks, starting with my top priorities, and working my way down until my week was booked. So that was two days ago. It’s helping!
I’m prioritizing time for personal growth. It’s fun. And weird.

So glad to hear that your social life and job(s) have been going well! I’m similar to you in that I constantly like to give everything 100% and feel in control of my schedule! Sometimes I think we need to relax and remember that what will be, will be 😉

In real life interaction seem to fall by the way side. I work odd hours as a personal trainer so I can’t do the after work thing. I’m working on making a better effort to reach out to people for a coffee date or lunch.
