I love mail. I’ve mentioned in here before how getting packages makes my day. Waiting for my wedding dress to be delivered last week was pure torture. I’m sure I hit the refresh button for the status updates on the UPS site at least 100 times. ;p
I also love OXO. The more of their products I try the more I’m convinced Josh and I are going to be registering for a lot of OXO merchandise. ;p I was so excited to receive their new cherry pitter and ice cream scooper in the mail to try out. That sounds like a great excuse to have dessert to me!
I was reading all the awesome features of the cherry pitter and how it’s designed not to hurt your hand after extended periods of time in case you need to pit a lot of cherries to make pie. Yum! And the splash guard catches all flyaway cherry juice so you don’t make a mess.
All you do is simply de-stem the cherry, then plop it in the pitter and press.
And voila! I read about how easy it was supposed to be but then was surprised when it really was that easy. The seed fell right down into the little cover with no problems. I took it out from under the cover so you could see all the juice the shield caught inside.
A seedless cherry. I love cherries but hate having to chew around the seed. This is one tool I will definitely be making use of!
You can’t see an ice cream scooper and not think of ice cream. I had a blueberry pomegranate with chocolate truffle frozen yogurt that I knew would pair perfectly with cherries. I was excited to use the ice cream scooper and it did not let me down. The scooper has serious heft, you don’t have to worry about it bending or breaking if you’re trying to scoop rock hard ice cream. The handle is also designed with a catch guard so that while you’re scooping your hand doesn’t slide down into the ice cream. This has happened to me so many times and I’ve always hated it, so I’m excited for the prospect of mess-free ice cream scooping.
Frozen yogurt and cherries, what a perfect combination! It was so delicious I ate every bite. I love both OXO products and give them without any reservations two big thumbs up. OXO truly makes some of the best, high-quality kitchen products out there.
Question of the day: What’s a fun kitchen product that you never thought you would need that you now can’t live without? Just please don’t say a banana slicer, those things just make me laugh, I do not understand the point of them at all.

I *need* a cherry pitter…those look like a great and handy tool! I’ve recently bought “Eggies” that sounded gimmicky, but I LOVE how easy it is to make hard-boiled eggs now! No mess and come out perfect every time.

Ohh I’ll have to look into Eggies! I love eggs and am always looking for easy ways to make them. Thanks!

Cherry pitter…one of those random household items you forget about! It’s so funny the one time things you might need and then don’t have. I need to put this on my list! Also need an ice cream scooper cause my spoons are tired of getting bent 🙂
Erin says
I totally used to do the spoon as an ice cream scooper. And then I’d have to try and bend it back after I made it all mis-shapen. ;p

I’m not a huge cherry fan, but that pitter looks awesome…I may have to develop more of a taste for cherries 😛
