Our First Husker Game

September 25, 2013 9 Comments

I love my job. My coworkers are so nice, and it seems like all of them are hardcore Nebraska Huskers fans. That energy has been contagious!

When my boss asked me if I’d like his tickets to a Husker game I was so excited. Nebraska lives and breathes Husker football, so for Josh and I to get the opportunity to experience it firsthand at the stadium was awesome.

We wore our Husker finest (thanks Target!) and hit up Whole Foods before we left for Lincoln. The store was celebrating its 8th birthday with cake, samples galore, a photo booth and face painting. We thought it’d be fun for us to commemorate our first Husker game with some funny photos.

We also got our faces painted for the game. When we do something we do it big. 😀 After dropping our weekly groceries back at home we hit the road for Lincoln ready to rep our new team.

The drive to Lincoln was a breeze, because we were running late and the game had already started. Getting home was another story. Josh’s coworker was hosting a party and we were over an hour late to it because of the crazy game day traffic. It was worth it though, check out these awesome seats! We were in the new East Wing and the field felt so close. The game was sold out and the crowd had so much energy.  Did you know Husker games sell out more than any other college football game? It was a total blowout of a game, we were kicking butt and everyone was cheering. We ended the game almost 40 points ahead of the other team.

It was such a great day and such a fun game. I’m so thankful we were given the opportunity to go. Josh and I already want to get back to Lincoln to explore the town more, it looks like such a cute college town!

Question of the Day:  Are you a college football fan? Do you go to the games?

Sounds like so much fun. I’m not a big fan, but actually being at a college game makes everyone a fan. So much energy and excitement!

I’m not a huge Husker fan, and I don’t even like football, really, but I got invited to a game once, and there’s no denying how infectious the spirit is! I left with a brand new Husker’s sweatshirt on my back, and feeling a bit dazed! Glad you had fun!

Aww, yay!! I’m so glad you enjoyed my hometown 🙂 It was so nice to be back in Lincoln that day even though we didn’t go to the game. We watched it downtown at one of the bars in the Haymarket. You’ll definitely have to explore that area, it’s pretty similar to the Old Market here in Omaha. I’m not a huge football fan but the excitement about games is awesome!
