Yesterday was one of those days where plans pop up out of the blue and you just have to go with it. If you had asked me yesterday morning how I’d be spending my evening I’d have said eating dinner with girlfriends after work.
Instead I spent it at the new Nebraska Crossing Outlets (Nex Outlets for short) in Gretna, NE.
Jen, Joanna, and myself were invited to the First Look Fashion Show and were given VIP seats! The event was to showcase all the brands the outlet carries. I know in most areas there’s a dozen places you can buy Kate Spade or Micheal Kors, but in this case this is the first time some of these brands are reaching the Nebraska market. It is incredibly exciting.
There was food and drink stations galore, live music, and a sweet runway set up. The Nebraska Crossings certainly knows how to throw a party. The place was packed! We took our seats and eagerly waited for the show to begin.
This show was so great because it started out not with runway models but with local celebrities walking the red carpet. Leading up to this event over $100,000 was raised for charity. Everyone in the audience was cheering and having a fun time. After that portion of the show the models took to the runway to showcase looks found at the outlets. I loved so many of them. The show then ended with some of the construction guys who had built the beautiful outlets trading in their hard hats for tuxes and accompanying the models for a final walk. I have to say, the more I learn about Nebraska the more I love it. People really seem to value hard work, the construction team that created the outlets took a project that normally takes 18 months and got it done in 8!
A unique part of the fashion show was how people could shop their favorite looks from their seats! Style Seek is program that gives you clothing suggestions based on your StyleDNA. Simply answer a few questions and be matched with stores and styles that will suit your needs. All the shop directories in the outlets are hooked up with the technology to show you what store your dream outfit is located in at Nebraska Crossing. Simply walk up to the directory, touch the screen, and get started! At the fashion show every outfit was preloaded onto a shopping page and I may or may not have my eye on some seriously adorable boots.
The grand opening of the outlets is today and I highly recommend checking them out. It is a beautiful shopping center with tons of great brands. We got to shop the stores yesterday and it was a lot of fun. I have a feeling the Kate Spade store and I will be quite good friends. We found Warren Buffet cutouts outside of Borsheims and we had to have a little fun with them. ;p
When we stopped to ask two guys to take our picture in front of this giant Christmas tree we didn’t realize we had just bumped into some of the architects that built the outlets. They were so happy to hear how much we loved it and wanted to get in a picture. Sorry for the blurriness, but it was too funny of a story to not include.
I had SO much fun with these girls. <3 The Omaha bloggers group has introduced me to so many amazing people and I am so thankful to be a part of it. A big thanks to the Nebraska Crossing Outlets and StyleSeek for inviting us to this event!

Erin, that is so cool! I’ve been working out there all week getting Jcrew ready to open, and its been crazy! Didn’t know they were doing all of this last night. Looking forward to working opening day this evening and hopefully finding some shopping time tomorrow!

I am also sad I couldn’t go. It looks like you guys had fun, though! Brian’s company did the electrical and cable work for the outlets. A couple of his friends have been working 10-hour days every day for months to get it done. One of the guys finished last week and showed up at the office in seatpants, a hoody, and carrying a six pack of beer to finish his paperwork 😉 It sounds like he earned it.

So glad that you are having a blast in NE and being able to participate in some fun blogging events! I found a great group here in PA, but most of their activities are still too far for me to travel to 🙁
Nah, I’m not really a shopper unless I have a list!
