The makings of a perfect summer picnic

June 12, 2017 16 Comments

One of my favorite memories from when Josh and I were dating in college were our 4th of July picnics. We’d pack up a big picnic basket full of Wegman’s  red, white, and blue bread, good cheese, a few jams, and some cheap booze and just make a day of being out in the sunshine.

We’d play lawn games, read books, and end the night with State College’s 4th of July fireworks show. (It’s one of the best in the nation!)

We are in prime picnic season, so I wanted to share some of my picks for making your own perfect summer picnic. I hope you enjoy!

I love hearing any kind of dating and relationship story AND I love picnics. I literally just said to my husband that we should pack a picnic for dinner and go somewhere… it’s so nice out today! What is red, white, and blue bread? I haven’t seen that!! I’m so excited for 4th of July and your post made me even more excited (:

So glad I read this, I wouldn’t have thought to bring the wine cups or watermelon keg. What good ideas!!

I’ve been dying to try one of those watermelon kegs!! I think I’m going to go look for one tonight, actually. Thanks!

I love having picnics. Wine is always a must but I have trouble thinking of foods to bring. These are all great suggestions!

This is so cool. My son and I have been shopping for a good picnic basket or backpack. Time to get out and enjoy the weather.

Aw. The last time I had a picnic was with my husband about 2 years ago. He surprised me and took me up to the Griffith Observatory here in LA. It was so cute!

We plan to have plenty of picnics this summer. We like to bring along fun games to play as a family.

Those plates are so fun! 🙂 We’ve done a lot of picnics this year – there’s a lake near us it’s nice to go sit by, and there’s the beach too. It’s a fun activity! 🙂
