Lulu’s 1st Birthday and a Delicious Mexican Dinner

August 5, 2013 18 Comments

I have been getting to do so much fun stuff lately, I feel like I’ve been running from sun up to sun down. I’m excited to share all of it with you over the next few days in posts. Today I wanted to talk about my fun meetup with Hannah.

Ever since I found out I was moving to Omaha I have been so lucky to have incredible people reach out to me through my blog to give me recommendations on the city and offer to meet up. Moving to a city where you don’t know anyone is kind of scary because you want to have friends and things to do and it can be hard to create that all from scratch. I was so excited when Hannah reached out and asked if I wanted to have dinner. She runs the awesome blog Clean Eating Veggie Girl and is someone I knew I’d have a lot in common with right away. She suggested Kitchen Table for dinner, a new restaurant downtown. Their slogan is slow food fast and I was so excited to try them out after looking over the menu. They cook with fresh, locally-sourced foods which is something I really respect in a restaurant.

The decor inside was awesome. It was so great getting to meet Hannah! How adorable is her outfit?

We both ordered the veggie tacos and loved them. Everything here was house made. We both finished our plates.

And then finished off chatting with bourbon blondies. This dessert was right up Josh’s alley and I meant to thank him for unpacking while I was off having girl time by saving him half, but he only ended up with a few nibbles as I couldn’t stop eating it. It just means we’ll have to go back soon! There’s so many awesome things on the menu that I want to try and the prices are really reasonable. I have a feeling this will become one of our favorite places.

I had so much fun with Hannah and was so happy she was free to check out the Village Pointe Lululemon’s 1st birthday party celebration the next day. I had found out about it a few days earlier when I was buying my yoga mat and thought it sounded like a good time. There was a DJ and snacks and the opportunity to connect with Lululemon’s fitness ambassadors and try out different exercises.

Hannah has been wanting to try barre for a while and when she suggested it I figured it was the perfect opportunity to finally try something I’ve been hearing about for so long. The mini-class was awesome but so intense. I’m not sure I can describe the pain I feel in my legs currently when I try to either stand up or sit down. I was so glad to be there with a workout buddy who didn’t judge me even when my hands were sweating so bad all over the bar. Barre is no joke. I definitely want to add it to my workout routine.

And we’re hanging out again this Friday at a meetup dinner. It should be a good time. Yay for blends turning into friends!

Questions of the Day: Have you tried a new awesome restaurant lately? Have you ever done barre?

I had SUCH a great time with you! The food was AMAZING and that blondie was SO good. I am impressed that you even had any leftover at all to share with Josh ;). I cannot wait to go back there. And Barre…wow is all I can say to that. I really enjoyed that class and I am still feeling it two days later :)!

That’s so amazing that you got to meet up with a blogger in your new city. It’s crazy to think how you just know that you’ll hit it off with someone!!

I’ve never tried a class at Lululemon because it would totally intimidate me, but maybe I should someday.

How awesome that you got to meet up with Hannah! I’ve yet to find someone close enough in my area to see and I’m jealous of your time together :). Those veggie tacos look amazing!

The tacos were fabulous! Are there any bloggers in your area? I was surprised how many were in Omaha once I started looking!

It’s great you two were able to meet up! 🙂 I took a Physique 57 class once, which I believe is like barre. I’d like to try a barre one though!

What city do you live in? I used to live in the middle of nowhere PA and relied heavily on online shopping! haha
