I can’t believe Thanksgiving is over! The holidays sure do fly. I hope your Thanksgiving was a special one.
I celebrated mine with my favorite guy and our friends Molly, Brian, and their family. Molly was so kind to invite us over to her parents house for Thanksgiving. We aren’t traveling home for the holidays this year and weren’t sure what we were going to do. Her family was so warm and welcoming. They helped make our first Thanksgiving as a married couple such a special one. They are all amazing cooks as well. Oh man I couldn’t get enough of the food, and then they sent us home with leftovers! It was a great time.
We did a little bit of Black Friday shopping the next day, but nothing crazy. We originally set our alarm for 4:30am, laughed when it went off, and then went back to bed.
After shopping we headed home to celebrate Hanukkah! We ordered catered food from Whole Foods that was amazing. The apple noodle kugel was out of this world.
Josh spoiled me with a new dress coat for Hanukkah. I’ve been needing one for a long time. My cream peacoat has turned a lovely gray color over the years. ;p
Saturday we woke up bright and early to get down to business and Christmas-ize our entire apartment. I made Josh a surprise advent calendar that I’ll be blogging about more tomorrow. He loved it and I was so happy.
We learned that Hobby Lobby is basically the best store ever and picked up a bunch of Christmas decorations there all for 50% off. I love Christmas wreaths.
Pinterest inspired me to make quick, simple, and super cheap holiday card holders.
We got our stockings set up. 😀
And our place settings put out. Does anyone else set a table when they’re not expecting company? No, just me? I just love how it looks to walk in to a beautifully set table.
We totally got the deer from the Pier 1 commercial. I love them!
And what Christmas is complete without a Christmas tree? I’ve always had artificial trees growing up so this year I decided I wanted to do it up and get a real Christmas tree. Not just any old tree, but the biggest and best one we could find. I don’t know how it did it but our Fit managed to fit a 9 foot Christmas tree on its roof!
Josh hauled it inside and we got to decorating over snacks, Christmas music, and cheesy Lifetime Christmas movies. Our colors this year are silver, gold, and blue with snowflake accents. Can you tell I’m excited about Christmas? haha
I could not be more in love with our tree. It looks like it’s out of a story book. And it smells so beautiful. Can you spot the penguin in the tree?
It was such a wonderful couple of days. The holidays have taken on a whole new meaning for me as Josh and I celebrate them together as newlyweds. I’m excited for all the traditions we start that our family will be celebrating for decades to come.

Now that we’re having our first Christmas in our new home, I have been all over Christmas decorating too. That’s how we spent the majority of our past weekend. So fun!

Great decorating! We hosted Thanksgiving in our new house which was a lot of fun and we put up our tree, which I LOVE doing.
No Black Friday shopping for me, there are very few things I would ever need to get that would justify getting up THAT early for 🙂
