Hello everyone! It’s Don the Dad here.
The getaway I’m blogging about today is a mid-week trip I took with my wife Diane to Hershey Park for some summer fun. We left town Tuesday after work to get to Hershey, PA so we could be early birds when they opened the gates at Hershey Park on Wednesday. We bought a two-day pass to save substantially on admission prices. The ticket covers all rides and the water park, too.
The first day we rode the traditional park rides, including lots of roller coasters.
Here’s a shot as we’re climbing to the top of one of the wooden roller coasters– my favorite!
The second day we did the water park, and loved it. The two days in Hershey went by really fast, and we enjoyed every minute.
Some of my tips for your next trip to Hershey Park:
- Be prepared to do a lot of walking. The water park and the newer rides are in the far end of the park.
- Be sure to bring your water bottle with you, as you will need it in this summer heat.
- Leave the food bag in the car. They don’t allow it and they check all bags coming into the park. I learned this the hard way.
- The earlier you can get into the park the better, you’ll beat the crowds for your favorite rides.
Question of the Day: What’s your favorite ride at a theme park?

Nice pics Don! Glad you guys had a good time. I’m impressed that you guys do all those coasters. I can’t remember the last time I rode one but the rickety ride of the wooden ones were always a thrill for me. Take care.
