Happy Sweetest Day!

I LOVE holidays! And tomorrow, October 15th, is Sweetest Day! Do any of you celebrate Sweetest Day? I’ll admit I had never heard of it until Josh and I walked into Kohls and were looking at their card section a few weeks ago. We love cards and were curious about this tiny little section at the bottom of the card display.

Sweetest Day is an observance celebrated primarily in the Great Lakes region, or lake dwellers, and parts of the Northeast United States, on the third Saturday in October. It is described by Retail Confectioners International as an “occasion which offers all of us an opportunity to remember husbands, boyfriends, the sick, aged and orphaned, but also friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed.”

Despite not living anywhere near the Great Lakes I am all about celebrating love and having more reasons to give cards! Apparently its like a mini-Valentines Day but instead of giving flowers and jewelry it encourages you to give candy and sweets! (Super smart marking on the candy company’s part I must add! ;p)

Josh is so amazing and thoughtful and always goes out of his way to do sweet little things for me. I thought it would be cute to put together a little Sweetest Day present for him! So yesterday I snuck back to Kohls to better explore the Sweetest Day card section. I’m counting on him not reading this post before I see him, so Josh, if you are reading this before Saturday, please stop now! Thanks! 😀

I got him a card about wishes and dreams and two of his favorite kinds of candy. I hope it makes him smile! 🙂

Last night was spent on Pinterest looking at love quotes, and I found some that made me smile. I thought it would be fun to share them with you!
