I’m excited to have my first guest post on my blog today! And it’s an extra special guest poster- it’s my Dad! (My cutie patootie nephew was not involved in this blog post, but I’m sure he supports it.) He recently went on a trip to Atlantic City and came home talking about how much fun it was. He just started using a digital camera and enjoyed getting to document his trip. When he was showing me the photos I told him it would make a great blog post and that he should write one. He always reads my blog and comments to me about my posts, and I was so excited that he wrote one. (And that he’s embracing technology!) I hope you guys enjoy!
Hello everyone! This is Don, Erin’s dad, sharing my two day getaway from PA with you. I traveled to Atlantic City Tuesday for a little time at the beach. I don’t gamble, but I do like to walk the boardwalk and shop.
By being there in the middle of the week I got a great room sale at the Showboat Casino. It was $22.96 for the night. (It goes for $200 in the summer!) The Showboat is in the North Boardwalk area. There are not many stores or things to do in that area, but you can get great deals on hotels. The Revel hotel next to the Showboat almost wasn’t built. It was under construction during the recession and as the company lost money the project got put on hold. The city actually had to bail out the hotel so that it could be completed.
The Tanger outlet stores which I shopped at are in mid City, between the Convention Center and Caesars on the Boardwalk. The Outlet Stores offer a wide variety of styles and selection. My favorite stores are the Izod and Columbia stores. Erin really likes J.Crew.
Atlantic City is currently renovating some of the area. Where the Sands Casino once stood there is now a large empty lot. The city turned it into a public park for artists to use as they wish.
Someone made a wooden pirate ship! It was warm and sunny and nice to be by the ocean. It was a great little getaway!
Questions of the Day: Have you been to Atlantic City? What do you like to do while you are there?

A dad who loves shopping is always on the “cool list”. I have not been to Atlantic City is about 11 years, I’m sure a lot has changed since my last visit. We gamble at the nickle slots (do they even have those anymore).
Don says
Atlantic City has changed ,especially all the shopping mid-city. Nickle slots? I don’t go in the casino.Hope you have a good time.

Hi Don, welcome to the blogging world! Great pictures…I can tell you’re having fun with your new camera! I’ve never been to Atlantic City, I’m way over on the west coast so Vegas is our gambling haven (not that I gamble much, but it’s still fun).
Don says
Atlantic City is great for walking. The boardwalk must be four or five miles long. Then you can walk the Outlets stores mid-city. If you get tired, you grab a cab, or ride the bus. It’s all good.

I went to Atlantic City once a few years ago and it was a ton of fun. I loved the shopping and playing poker in the casinos!
Don says
Atlantic City can be a great getaway. Mid week is a lot less expensive, and less crowded. Have Fun!

Hi Don,
I love that you decided to give blogging a shot. It’s a lot of fun and though I haven’t been doing it all that long, I imagine it will be fun to go back and read old entries. You should post here again 🙂
I’ve never been to Atlantic City, but I’m a shopper and NOT a gambler. If you’re going to spend the money, it’s way more fun to put it to use at the outlets.
