I can’t believe we have one day left until our move. The past few days have been a blur of packing and list-making and trying to plan for the inevitable number of things we’ll have to do once we get to Omaha. Today the movers come to load up all of our boxes. My parents are coming tonight so we can go out to eat and say one last goodbye. Then Friday at 5am Josh and I board a plane to take us to our new home. I’m pretty excited for that plane ride. It’s hours of time with nothing to do but rest and relax after the whirlwind of graduation, marriage, and now moving. I plan on eating some of Delta’s biscoff cookies and reading a whole lot of magazines.
Josh and I have been enjoying magazines from the convenience of our iPad recently. I was given the opportunity to review Next Issue and share my experience with you guys. Next Issue is an app that gives you unlimited access to more than 90 of your favorite magazines. This includes not only the current issues but previous issues as well. For $10 a month you get access to all the monthly magazines they have available (Better Homes and Gardens, Vogue, Health, etc.) and for $15 a month you get access to all the monthly magazines and weekly magazines (People, Business Week, Time, etc.) as well. When I think about how much one magazine costs at the airport I think the monthly rates are a pretty good deal.
Set up is super simple. You just download the app, enter your login information, and then choose all the magazines you are interested in subscribing to. It creates a library of those magazine titles for easy access. Josh and I had fun going through the list and picking out all of our favorites. Once you pick your titles you can decide if you want automatic downloads when new editions of your subscriptions are available. Downloading the latest edition takes seconds and gives you access even when you’re not connected to the internet.
I love that Next Issue gives access to back issues as well as the most recent issue of magazines. This opened up a wealth of recipe resources to me as I begin to compile tasty meal ideas to cook in Omaha. I love how my stepmom always has the fridge stocked with healthy food and makes delicious homemade meals every night. I really want to do that for Josh and eventually for our future family when we have one years down the line.
A great thing about reading magazines on an iPad is that the resolution is crystal clear. A lot of the images look better than they do in the print version of the magazine. Digital versions of magazines are also interactive. While reading Glamour I could click the text to watch an embedded interview with the latest cover girl, and swipe on models’ outfits to find out where their clothes are from. It was seriously cool. Josh and I have both gotten pretty addicted, and can see ourselves using Next Issue for a long time.
If Next Issue is something you could see yourself enjoying I encourage you to try it out. They’re offering a free 30-day trial so you can see if it’s your thing before you make the plunge to digital magazines. I personally love getting rid of the clutter of magazines around the house every month. I always find myself getting attached to them and not wanting to get rid of them but months of weekly Business Week copies can really eat up a lot of space. I won’t tell you how many I just recycled as I was packing up my room…. ;p

Best of luck to you in Omaha. That looks like a seriously cool app, especially for traveling since you will go through many magazines but yet you don’t have to carry them all! Some of my favorites include Redbook, Runners World, and anything that has recipes in it!
