Happy Friday! Do you have any fun weekend plans? Josh and I are getting a couple’s massage today and I can’t wait. It is going to be much needed as we head into our last week of packing for our big trip to Omaha. This time next week we’ll be settling into our new apartment. That’s such a crazy thought.
Today I wanted to share with you guys a company that I’ve been using for a while now. About a month ago I won a pretty awesome giveaway on Fitnessista’s blog. The prize was a $500 gift card to Stitch Fix. It is by far the coolest thing I’ve ever won.
The way Stitch Fix works is pretty simple. You go to their website and fill out an extensive style profile. This includes your clothing likes/dislikes, body type, price range, etc. You then schedule a fix. Each fix costs $20 and will contain five clothing/accessory items. The $20 styling fee is credited towards whatever you buy in your fix. Whatever you don’t want you return in the prepaid envelope enclosed in the box. If you don’t keep anything you lose your $20 styling fee. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount on all the clothes. You let them know what you’re keeping and returning and give feedback on everything for your next fix by going back to the website. Although Stitch Fix is still in beta the website runs smoothly and is super easy to understand.
I said I have been using Stitch Fix for a while and that is because today I got my third fix. I was so excited to share them all with you, but the first two fixes were absolute busts. (The pictures above are from previous fixes.) Either the coloring didn’t work with my skin tone or things just weren’t my style. I’m a pretty classic kind of girl, I was honestly surprised it was so hard for them to nail down my style. Gina always has such cute stuff in her boxes! We’re still not totally there with my box but I think it’s much better. I thought it would be fun if you guys would help me decide which items, if any, to keep from this fix. While it has been frustrating not keeping anything so far, it’s so fun to look forward to what I’m going to get to receive. I also figured I would rather it take a few boxes for them to nail down my style and then have a continuous flow of good boxes. I’ve been looking around on Pinterest and Stitch Fix sends out some seriously cute clothes! Access to Stitch Fix is by invitation only right now. If this seems like something you would enjoy, you can sign up using my referral code.
1. First up is the Peppermint Lucie Chevron Print Skirt for $48. I love chevron print and the price can’t be beat but the length is a little too long for how informal the print is. I’m tempted to have it hemmed but I don’t know if there’s just too much fabric in general.
2. Up next is the Mak B Melbourne Rugby Stripe Cotton Cardigan for $48. I normally stay away from wide stripes but I actually like this. The only bummer is the bottom button already fell off when I was trying it on. I could sew it back on pretty easily but I’m not really liking the idea of paying $48 for something I already have to fix.
3. I was also sent the Costa Blanca Joel Side Zipper Capri Pant for $42. I appreciate them trying something a little different. These are fun pants and they’re so comfy. I unfortunately don’t think they’re very flattering from seeing this photo. Also, what you can’t see in this photo is how they are cheaply made. One of the belt loops is starting to come undone at the seams and there’s loose threads. While I love the low prices of the items they sent me I’m not sure why I got them as I selected the $100-$150 price range for my items. Since this was a free gift card I won I was looking to invest in some quality pieces that will last me for a long time.
4. Up next is the Tart Alec Solid Side Gathered Tank for $78. I love blues and I love side gathered tops and dresses. I don’t know that this is my favorite side gathered top but I think it could be nice for work with a nice cardigan over it.
5. Lastly is the Max and Cleo Williams Geo Print Faux Wrap Dress for $128. I really like the quality of this dress, it is lined and feels really nice to wear. I also think the pattern is kind of fun. I would like more work appropriate dresses but am worried the hem is a little too short for an office setting.
And that is my Stitch Fix box!
Questions of the Day: What do you think? What should I keep? Are you interested in trying out Stitch Fix?
Christine @ Love, Life, Surf says
I like the chevron skirt. I don’t think that the length is bad but you could have it hemmed, although if it’s hemmed it might be too poofy? I like the blue tank and the striped cardigan but that’s a bummer that the button fell off already. Can they send you a new one? I’ve been hearing more and more about stichfix and have been curious about it. Thanks for sharing your box!
Erin says
Josh stitched the striped cardigan button on for me and I kept that and the blue tank!
Charissa says
I think I like the sweater the best…however, the button thing is a bummer. Can they maybe take an extra discount off it for you?
Erin says
I wasnt sure who to contact about the discount but Josh stitched the button back on so I kept it.
Paige@FitNotFad says
LOOOOVEEEE the Chevron skirt! I agree with a comment above…get it hemmed if you feel it’s a little long! Such a gorgeous print and it looks great on you 🙂
Erin says
Aw thank you! I ended up not keeping it but I’m hoping I get more chevron in future Stitch Fixes!
Christine@ appleofmyeye says
I personally love the chevron skirt and its length! It reminds me of some vintage clothing, but in a good way! I say keep that one for sure 🙂
Erin says
Aw thanks! I didn’t feel comfortable enough in the skirt to keep it but I’m hoping for more chevron in future Stitch Fixes.
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
The gathered top is really cute! I like the dress, too. I just tried Stichfix for the first time as well… waiting for my box!
Erin says
I hope you like your box! I kept the gathered top and the striped cardigan.
Debbie @ Live from La Quinta says
I like the chevron skirt. I think the length is just fine, especially for that style. I’d be worried that if you shortened it it might hang funny.
I love the blue gathered top. Such a pretty color and it looks great on you!
Erin says
Aw thanks! I kept the gathered top and striped cardigan. I ddidn’t feel comfortable enough in the skirt to keep it.
Aimee says
Such a cute idea. The pricing is kind of confusing, but I’m going to check out the website. I think I’m just dense! I like that they tell you how much each item will cost you to buy.
I’ve been using Gwynnie Bee, which is subscription service, only for sizes 10 – 24, and I love them. You wear what you like and send it back and they return new outfits to you. http://goo.gl/aaPMF
Erin says
If you try it I hope you like it!
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
I too really like the Chevron skirt and think the length would be great for work and for summer/fall gatherings.
Erin says
Aw thanks! I didn’t feel comfortable enough in the skirt to keep it but I did keep the blue tank and striped cardigan.
Liana@RunToMunch says
I like the dress!
Erin says
Aw thanks! I was tempted to keep it but for the price I really had to love it.
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
What an awesome giveaway price. How lucky for you!! I really like the dress. The length of it would depend on where you worked, I suppose. It would pass as okay where I work.
Erin says
Yeah I was back and forth on the dress for a while. I liked it but for the price I really wanted to love it. I ended up keeping the cardigan and blue top.
Kate @KateMovingForward says
I really like the blue top (but the price does seem high if you don’t love it-but hey, it’s a gift card!). And I do concur with everyone about the skirt–it looks great! I’d throw on a pair of heels and call it a day!
Erin says
Aw thanks! I didn’t feel comfortable enough in the skirt to keep it but I did keep the blue top and cardigan.
Betsy says
I love the concept of this! And as far as what you got, I think I like the sweater the best!
Erin says
Thanks Betsy! I kept the cardigan and blue tank.
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
I’ve tried StitchFix once, and wasn’t that impressed with what they sent me. I might try it again in the future!
I like the sweater!
Erin says
It has definitely gotten better with each box. I just have to give them tons of notes.
