Hello from Davenport, Iowa! I’m here to present at a conference so I’m keeping this short and sweet so I can get to bed. My presentation is at 8:30 tomorrow morning and I do not want to fall asleep in the middle of it. Wish me luck!
It’s time for my Friday 5:
1. This cedar plank salmon I had at Hotel Blackhawk in Davenport was out of this world. It was also my second dinner of the night. (#thisiswhyimfat) I work with some of the best people. Dan works at the Davenport location and asked if I wanted to come out to dinner with him and his wife tonight. Dan and Kimberly are so nice and it was such a fun evening. I really appreciated them spending time with me while I’m here. I’ve never traveled for work alone before!
2. 13 everyday habits that are aging you. <— Craziness!
3. Molly and Brian’s wedding was so much fun! Molly looked beautiful, the food was delicious, and Josh danced with me to rap music. What more can you ask for? I’ve also realized I’m officially the most emotional person ever. I cried when Molly walked down the aisle, I cried seeing how Brian was looking at Molly, I cried at their first dance, I cried at the father/daughter and mother/son dance. I think I cried way more than is acceptable for a person who is not the bride and/or groom at the wedding. I just love love.
4. Do you remember how I said last weekend was supposed to be my first double race weekend? Unfortunately that didn’t happen. While the Color Me Rad 5k was awesome, the Head for the Cure 5k was not meant to be. It was raining and lightening out with threats of possible tornados. Jeff, Joanna, Josh and I decided to put our safety before our desire to run the race (and oh man did I want to run it). Instead we went and got breakfast at Wheatfields. While I was bummed about not getting to run the race, the delicious breakfast food made me feel better pretty quickly. 😀
5. My new song obsession. Shakira is fabulous.
Question of the Day: What are you up to this weekend? I’m celebrating Cinco de Mayo, seeing Zoe Keating, KARMIN!, and going to a wine festival! It should be a great time!
Good luck with the presentation!
Thank you so much! It went really well!
l just discovered your blog through the Friday Five-it’s cute! I also love Shakira! I also like to post lots of vegetarian recipes on my blog. Too bad about your race-darn those tornadoes. Stay safe out there. Will look for your blog again. Those guacamole grilled cheese just made me hungry
Aw thanks Deborah! I really appreciate the comment! Yeah, I’m definitely not used to tornadoes being in the weather forecast!
I love your Friday posts! Keep them up girl! This weekend I’m celebrating cinco de mayo and going to the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting.
Ohh have fun at the Berkshire Hathaway meeting! That sounds so cool!
Hi Erin! Visiting from the Friday link up! That stinks that the one race was cancelled. Did it run along the water where you are standing? If so, I bet it would have been a beautiful course!
Yes it was right along the water there. Thankfully I just did a St. Patrick’s run along the same course and that was beautiful so I didn’t feel like I was missing out too much. Hopefully they do another race there soon!
off to check out that aging article!
I thought it was a great article!
I’m loving Shakira lately too! Good luck with the presentation. Flying Pig x 3 for me this weekend!
Thank you! The presentation went really well so I was really happy. Good luck on your Flying Pig run! That is so awesome!
I hope your presentation is going well right now!! P.S., I normally love your hastags, but I do not appreciate the hashtag in #1…I don’t wanna hear that nonsense coming from you! 🙂
Aw you’re very sweet Hannah. 🙂
The presentation went awesome! I was so happy and so relieved!
I love Shakira. I bought her album when it first came out before I even listened to any of the songs. I just adore her voice.
Too bad about your double race last week. I have a 20 miler tomorrow, which means I probably won’t accomplish much the rest of the weekend :-). I’m taking Monday off, but we probably won’t do much for Cinco de Mayo. Maybe I’ll make burritos for dinner.
Burritos for dinner is a wonderful celebration!
Shakira is amazing! I want to buy her new album.
Great recap. This weekend I will be running my first ever mud run. Just a 5K muddy run with girlfriends… it should be a great time! 🙂
Have so much fun at the Mud Run! That sounds like a blast!
Karmin and wine festivals?!? That’s like my dream weekend!
It’s going to be a ton of fun!!
I am running a 20 miler this morning– I haven’t run more than 13 miles since last June, so just a little nervous.. just a little. 20 miles means I will probably walk around in a daze the rest of the weekend. Enjoy your time Davenport and good luck with your presentation!
Thank you so much Lisa! The presentation went great which was such a huge relief. Good luck on your 20 miler. You are a running rockstar!
Lots of family & kid stuff this weekend, plus the Frederick Half Marathon!
Good luck at the Half Marathon! You’re going to rock it!
