It’s time for another five facts Friday post! I hope your week went well! Here are five things that are on my mind today.
1. Working out makes me feel really, really good. It can be painful and uncomfortable while I’m doing it, but it does wonders for my self-esteem and energy levels afterwords. I’m really happy I’ve been able to stick with moving and sweating on a regular basis. This woman is my inspiration for getting my butt in gear every day. You can follow along and see my progress and the progress of many others by searching the #FFCheckIn hashtag on Instagram. I upload a video every night just to say how I’m doing and feeling that day.
2. I’m thinking about ordering some barre shoes for my classes. My feet get so sweaty and slip all over the place and it makes it really hard to hold a plank or extend my legs back during stretches. I found these ones from Nike but wanted to see if you guys had heard anything about them or had other barre shoe recommendations?
3. I am loving my Bestowed box. It’s $19 a month and comes with a wide variety of healthy snacks. I dug into that KIND dark chocolate chili almond bar after my workout tonight and loved every bite. I’ve actually never tried a KIND bar before so I was really excited to do so. I’ve also heard great things about Pacific stock, so I’m looking forward to cooking something for myself with that. Josh and I always get the Whole 365 veggie stock when we buy groceries to save money, so this is a little fancy treat. ;p
4. Jennifer Lawrence is my girl crush. I think she is so funny, relatable, and normal. It’s crazy to think we’re the same age. I always assume people are older than me. Except for Justin Bieber. He looks and has the maturity of a 12 year old.
5. Josh and I want to do something fun this weekend that doesn’t involve food and will get us moving in some way. We love to go out to eat but we want to try and get moving a little more even when we’re not working out. Any fun ideas for an activity filled date?
Question of the Day: What’s on your mind this Friday?

I’ve never heard of barre shoes! I bought the Pure Barre sock and really like them. I used them in my Barre3 classes and at home doing my Barre3 workout DVDs. I did notice in my Barre3 classes that other people had socks with the toes cut out and I really liked those.

Those are cute socks! haha Thanks for the link. 🙂
Jeff aka @Powderfinger says
You could try a hike at a park or nature center, with binoculars and a bird book to see what birds you can see & identify. Shouldn’t be too strenuous and something a little different. 🙂
Erin says
Aww that sounds fun! I’ve never gone bird watching before but I know Josh loves it.
Erin C says
The Omaha zoo is free this weekend! Walking around the zoo is exercise without feeling like it.
Erin says
Ohh yes! And they have the baby penguins! Thanks. 😀
Erin O'Brien says
Thanks for the heads-up on the zoo!
Deanna says
Do you normally wear sock with the sticky backs to barre? Or bare feet? I heard that socks are important to keep heat in or something when you do barre classes….
Erin says
I do it barefoot, along with about 4/5ths of the class. Then the other small group of people, and our instructor, has the Nike shoe sock things. I haven’t heard anything about keeping heat in during barre but I also haven’t looked into that. I’ll have to check it out! Thanks!
Jamie @ Rise.Run.Mom.Repeat. says
I didn’t know barre shoes existed! They’d probably also be good for hot yoga.
Erin says
Yes, they’re recommended for pilates, yoga, or any exercise you typically do barefoot.
Leslee @ Her Happy Balance says
I’ve been wanting to go rock climbing with my boyfriend at a rock climbing gym for a long time, that would be a fun date. Or a hike together!
Erin says
I love rock climbing! I have no idea how I’m good at it since I have no upper body strength. haha I’ll have to look into finding Omaha rock climbing places!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
You guys should go for a walk on some of the trails in the Omaha area. It is supposed to be in the upper 50s on Sunday!!
Erin says
That would be so much fun!! Do you have any trail recommendations in particular?
Angela says
I want those Nike shoes so bad but I can’t bring myself to pay $100+ for them!! I want to wear them as “barefoot” shoes for lifting and things. I would probably wear the slips over them so I don’t get funny looks. LOL

But I might pay $50!! http://www.zappos.com/nike-studio-wrap
Erin says
Yes thats where I saw them too! I thought they were $50 on the Nike website too. $100 would be way too much.
Erin O'Brien says
I wonder if trails will be soft? If not, Hitchcock Nature Center just north of Crescent, Iowa is a great option. And lunch at Garden Grove on your way there! DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge is great too; there’s an exhibit there on the Steamboat Bertrand (look it up, interesting stuff!). You can also see where in the area they recovered it. If heading to Iowa is a bit far for you, Fontenelle Forest is always a nice option.
Erin says
Thanks so much! We think we’re going to do Fontenelle Forest today! 😀
Kelly @ Cupcake Kelly's says
I’ve never seen anyone in the studio I go to with the Nike’s, but everyone wears Blake Brody’s http://blakebrody.com/ or socks with grips. I’d be concerned that the strappiness of the Nike’s would be uncomfortable, esp as your body heats up, if your feet expand they would get too tight.
Erin says
Ohh I love those Blake’s but they’re so pricey! Have you tried them? Are they worth it?
Kelly @ Cupcake Kelly's says
I personally haven’t, I know that there can be some sales but you’d have to keep your eyes peeled for them. Every single regular at the studio has them. I really want to try them, sometimes my studio has trunk shows and they are priced lower but they haven’t had one since I started going.
Carlie says
I bet that Mediterranean herb dip would be great with some salmon!
Erin says
Omg that is such a great idea! Thank you!
Kierston says
Working out empowers me in mind and body 🙂
Erin says
Me too!
