Demo Diaries: Sponsored U by Kotex Review

July 11, 2013 2 Comments

Despite just getting married, I haven’t been to a ton of weddings. I’m one of the first of my group of girlfriends to get married. If I had to make a generalization about brides though, I’d feel pretty confident in saying no bride wants to have her period on her wedding day. No thought is as horrifying as a perfect white wedding dress marred by blood. While many brides luck out and don’t have to deal with it, there’s always some who have to deal with Mother Nature on their big day.  Lucky us.

Enter U by Kotex. I’m a huge Kotex fan. Participating in their Generation Know campaign changed a lot of my perceptions regarding the female body. At the roundtable discussion, surrounded by other women sharing their personal experiences, I felt proud to have a period. And I am still so proud, but nonetheless I wish I could have pushed Mother Nature off for a week or so this month. With a lot on the line, I figured what better time than now to put the company’s tampons to the test. I love the ideology of Kotex, and all of their products, but would they come through for me when I really needed them?

The tampons are in a discreet enough wrapper, which is nice for putting in a clutch, a pocket, or a purse. I’ve never been a fan of the mini-size ones or ones that try to look like other things. I’m simple, I prefer regular absorbancy, unscented tampons. We’re all girls here right? We’ve officially entered the TMI zone.

I love this rip-off wrapper. It makes sure I have easy access to the tampon every time.

Even better than the wrapper is the construction of the tampon itself. The sleek plastic applicator ensures there won’t be any awkward adjusting like with a cardboard applicator, and the finger grip allows you to easily insert the tampon on the first try. If you’ve been using the same brand of tampons for years it’s easy to get complacent and think they’re all the same. After I started working with Kotex and tried their U by Kotex line, I realized that that was not the case and that there was no going back to other brands for me. And thankfully, on my big day,  Kotex came through. I didn’t have to fuss or think about tampons twice. I was a very happy, spotless bride. 🙂

If you’d like to try them for yourself go request a free sample! You can also find out more info on their Twitter and Facebook pages.

Question of the Day: What do you look for when tampon shopping?

I wrote this review while participating in a content series through Clever Girls Collective on behalf of U by Kotex, and received products to facilitate my post and compensation for my time to participate.

I really like their Compak (?) line? They are full sized but packaged in the smallest configuration, so they tuck easily into a pocket or fuel belt. I also like the hot colors of the wrapper. They don’t scream TAMPON if someone gets a peek inside your purse.
