Summertime is in full swing in Omaha! There are fun outdoor events happening practically every day, the sun is shining, everything is in bloom, and it is HOT.
While I’m all about the heat after a long, cold winter, and revel in the chance to spend time outdoors, sometimes it’s hard to know how to dress to stay cool in the warm summer months.
Growing up I always wore cotton. I was told it was breathable and good for my sensitive skin. (My single-parent dad was all about utilitarian clothes when I was little. Nothing ever matched, but it all served a purpose. 😉 )  Now that I’m older, I’ve learned that not only is cotton breathable, it’s the most scent repellent, durable fabric there is. My dad really knew what he was talking about. No wonder I always feel coolest when I wear cotton in the summer.
While I’m thankful for my dad’s wisdom on which fabrics to buy, I’m glad I’m now old enough to pick out my own clothes. My outfits are a lot cuter than they used to be! 😉

This outfit is entirely cotton inspired. And it was so comfy and light to wear. It’s about the closest I’ll ever come to a Canadian tuxedo. 😉
My absolute favorite thing about this Anthropologie top is the back. How cute is this cutout detail?
Good white denim can be hard to find. I cannot recommend these Orvis jeans enough. They’re 99% cotton so they have a hint of stretch but hold their shape, aren’t see-through, and don’t cling to lumps and bumps.
I am going to wear these Nine West shoes into the ground I love them so much. They go with everything! And I have a feeling I could walk pretty far in this look, with all the cotton to keep me cool. 😀
