Being a country music fan, every time I hear the phrase secret of life, it makes me think of one of my favorite Faith Hill songs.
The secret of life is gettin’ up early
The secret of life is stayin’ up late
The secret of life is try not to hurry
But don’t wait
Don’t wait
My favorite line of the song is:
The secret of life is there ain’t no secret
And you don’t get your money back
Which is so, so true, and incredibly deep if you think about it. But today’s post isn’t meant to go deep, unless we’re talking about deeply nourishing your skin.
Because it turns out, there is a secret to the life, health, and appearance of your skin. It’s moisture! And thanks to the beauty that is the modern retail system, you can buy it on store shelves and online and get your money back if you don’t like it! 😀
Did you know that 80% of your skin’s aging is in your control? That means 80% of the way you look at 80 is because of the things you’re doing today.
The big three anti-aging secrets:
- Wear sunscreen
- Don’t smoke
- Moisturize your face
As a 26 year old woman (I honestly wanted to write girl, both feel weird, whatever), the single best thing I can do for my skin is moisturize it.
What these big three anti-aging secrets all have in common is that they keep moisture in your face. The sun is incredibly drying, as is smoking (although honestly my skin would be the least of my concerns if I smoked, you are killing yourself), as is the natural aging process.
Babies are born all squishy and cherub-cheeked. Their skin has a ton of elasticity. As you get older, your skin naturally loses that elasticity.
What helps maintain elasticity? Moisture! So what do you have to do? Moisturize your face! Start young and do it twice a day.
There are a lot of moisturizing products on the market, and a lot do a really good job. Walking up and down the aisles trying to pick a product from the masses can be overwhelming though, so I keep my criteria simple.
- What’s going to work
- What’s going to not irritate my sensitive skin
- What’s going to not cost me an arm and a leg
As you can probably guess from the photos in this post, there is a product that meets all of these requirements, and you can easily pick it up online or on your next trip to the store!
It’s Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, and it’s only $26.99.
If you’re into researching beauty products, ingredients, and anti-aging studies like me, you know that Olay Regenerist Multi-Sculpting Cream has been a big deal for a while. It’s the #1 selling anti-aging moisturizer on the market and Olay is constantly keeping it fresh by reformulating the product with the latest and greatest ingredients. The hot new ingredient on the market is carob seed extract which aids in skin repair and regeneration, and Olay just added it to their Micro-Sculpting Cream.
The Good House Keeping Institute does an annual, independent test of the anti-aging products on the market, and yet again, Olay Regenerist came out on top of the pack, beating out 10 other top creams, including one with a $440 price tag. (And it didn’t just beat this expensive cream, it moisturized 400% better. Say what!)
I’m not sure why we’ve been conditioned to think more expensive automatically means better. There’s a lot of companies that play into this notion to make us feel like we need to spend a crazy amount of money on something to have it be worth it. I don’t know about you, but if I can save money and get a better product, you best believe I am going to do that!
Studies aside, I simply love that when I put Olay Regenerist Multi-Sculpting Cream on my face I feel the smoothness and moisture it adds to my skin. Part of looking good is feeling good, and I feel good with a fresh face.
Questions of the Day: Do you moisturize your skin? Have you used Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream before? What’s one thing you do to keep your skin young and looking fresh?
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Olay. All opinions are my own.

Moisturizer is so important! . At age 32 I have ok skin for the most part by switching to only a few products, in the am and pm. However I do agree that smoking is so bad for your health. I also think that drinking enough water is a good idea!!

I woke up this morning thinking “the secret is to get up early” – it is a sign I found this blog today! Great article, solid advice! Thank you.

So true…very important to keep your skin moisturized! I love olay products too..so light and effective! 🙂
Alisha says
I definitely agree with a previous comment. Water is very important! Just as good face creams have a good amount of H20, you also have to replenish from within. Even making changes to one’s diet also keeps your skin healthy.
Nele says
I have a friend who uses this one and is very happy with it! As soon as I run out of my current one I might give it a go!

Moisturizing is key. Most of the people I know balk when they hear my actual age. They usually give me almost 10 extra years, my mom looks pretty awesome too. It’s all about eating healthy, drinking enough water, moisturizing and using sunscreen, and remembering to be happy. 🙂
Annie Standing says
So agree with these! Moisture is so important and as I’m 26 too I’m really feeling the need to do everything I can to prevent any damage for later on in life!! I always wear SPF and look after my skin as best I can. I’d rather moisturise and look after my skin as a young person than have to go through ways to try and reverse anything when I’m older!

Hey, great post! It’s something that my wife would love to read. I’ll show her later when she gets back home 😛

Thanks for these tips. I think moisturizing is an incredible way to keep your skin young as long as possible. I make my own moisturizer. That way I know it’s natural and exactly what’s in it. I can adjust it to the weather or how my skin is feeling. And I
drink lots of water.
