Oh the allergy blahs… They’re caused by knowing you’re not sick but for all intents and purposes, feeling sick. It’s the sniffles, the headaches, the runny nose, the watery eyes, the tickle in the back of your throat that just won’t go away. Allergies are not fun but unfortunately they’re in full swing right now. If you’re suffering, here are some tips for how to beat the allergy blahs.
1. Stay indoors
If only we could take allergy days from work when we’re feeling under the weather from all the pollen and the dander. Unfortunately, that’s not possible in the real world. But as much as you can, try to minimize your exposure to the outdoors where all the allergens live. Take a nap, read a book, or catch up on your favorite Bravo show. Whatever you want to do, just do it indoors.
2. Leave your clothes at the door
When you’re outside the clothes you’re wearing are picking up everything that’s in the air. Think of when you go to a fish market, or to a nightclub. You leave and your clothes always reek of where you were. When you go inside during allergy season your clothes are wearing all those allergens right on you. Change into new clothes as soon as you get inside from being outdoors so you can keep your house a safe haven from allergies
3. Get some meds
Medication can work wonders for allergy symptoms. Josh has got seasonal allergies something fierce right now that are causing him to cough and sneeze and be super fun to sleep next to at night. 😉 Over-the-counter meds like decongestants and nasal saline are perfect for treating his symptoms. Whereas Josh is a textbook case of someone with seasonal allergies, I’m an all-year-round allergy sufferer. Taking daily allergy medication works for me because the seasons can come and go and it’s always smooth sailing with my sinuses.
Whenever we’re in need of allergy meds, prescriptions from our doctors, and everyday pharmacy supplies, Josh and I turn to CVS. Their location is close by, the hours are convenient, and at MinuteClinic they have nurse practitioners and physicians assistants available to answer medical questions and see us if we’re under the weather. Talk about full-service!
Hopefully allergy season will be over soon, but until then I hope these tips help you beat the allergy blahs.
Questions of the Day: Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Is anyone else like me and allergic to the world all year round? How do you treat your allergies? Have you ever visited a MinuteClinic?
Disclosure: I have received promotional consideration from MinuteClinic. All opinions are my own.

I can’t stay indoors, so I try to shower as soon as I come back from a run and always take off my shoes…and yup Allegra!

My husband calls me a vampire because I basically live inside 24/7. I use a couple different kinds of essential oils to help with minor symptoms (peppermint, eucalyptus, rosemary, and lavender). And I swear by Advil Cold & Sinus. That stuff is magical! Thankfully my allergies haven’t been terrible this season and I haven’t had to buy enough to get me on some sort of list, haha. Thank you for the recommendations!

This is a great post. I deal with crazy allergies and am actually working on a similar post but with different tips (I’ll be sure to share your post when I publish. One i can agree with for sure is leaving your clothes the door, if it’s been outside assume it’s crawling with allergens.

We use some otc medicine, but usually just suffer through it for several months out of the year. Will definitely try some of your tips to see if it helps!
