As a vegetarian, I try to make sure I’m making good, healthy choices for my body. In almost all areas of nutrition, fruits and veggies make up for what I lose by giving up meat. In particular, I feel confident I’m getting enough protein in my daily diet. However, there are some nutrients in animal products that just aren’t found anywhere else, like B12. You can read more about B12 and why it is important here. Since I learned of B12’s importance, I’ve been monitoring my B12 consumption (from eggs and yogurt and cheese) and realized I haven’t been getting 100% of the daily recommended amount. While browsing Wegmans the other day, I found a product that allows me to ensure I’m getting 100% of my B12 in just one serving. It’s low in calories, has zero fat, only 4 grams of sugar, and 3 grams of protein! I made a vlog to share the product with you!
So glad I stumbled upon Kellogg’s Product 19 while in Wegmans.
I’m really impressed that this cereal only has 4 grams of sugar and still has a good taste. I don’t eat cereal for breakfast, but rather as a snack during the day.
Look at all those vitamins!
I love how the cereal doesn’t get soggy in milk. That is one of my biggest pet peeves with cereal!
This post isn’t sponsored, I just wanted to share a cool product I found with you guys. As a vegetarian, I always want to make sure I’m replenishing my body, never depriving it of what it needs. Cereal typically isn’t thought of as a healthy food, but sometimes it can be! 🙂
Question of the Day: What’s your favorite cereal? What do you love about it?
Danielle @ Itsaharleyyylife says
of course if i want a bad for me cereal i go for frosted flakes but i never get that! I always get special k with strawberries! sooooo yummy! I love when it gets soggy haha.
Erin says
Ohh frosted flakes are really good. I’m an equal opportunity cerealist. I just only stock my pantry with ones that aren’t too horrible if I shovel handfuls at a time into my mouth. ;p
Kelly says
I’m curious about the absorption of all those vitamins. I have an iron and B12 deficiency so I take supplements but I was told by my doctor that calcium prevents proper absorption so that I shouldn’t have any dairy products within an hour of taking my supplements. I wonder how it is absorbed if you are having the cereal with milk? Otherwise this sounds like an awesome product to get all those vitamins in one cup!
Erin says
Oh good point. I make a green smoothie almost every day and switched from milk to water in it because of what I read about calcium blocking iron absorption. But if I think I understand what I read about B12 correctly (I would definitely, definitely check with your Doctor), calcium is actually needed to break down B12 properly. Regardless of the nutrients, the cereal sure is tasty! 😀
Chris Donnelly says
I have to admit I mean well with cereal but i get out of hand quickly once that box is open! haha Glad you found something that fits your diet.
Erin says
Omg me too! I’m working on self control when it comes to cereal. But I figure since I snack on it anyways I might as well get some vitamins and nutrients out of it! 😀
Debbie @ Live from La Quinta says
I take a sublingual B-12 supplement every few days. It’s pretty easy to do. The cereal sounds interesting, though.. The label doesn’t show what type of Vitamin D it uses. D3 is from animal souces and I avoid that.
Erin says
Oh I’m not sure. Good to know that the vitamin form of B12 works well!
Charlotte says
first, you’re absolutely adorable on camera!
I really need to head to wegmans and find this cereal! It sounds like a miracle food. haha, how have I not known about this?!?!
Erin says
Aw, thanks! You’re really sweet! I can’t believe it has been around for so long. I’ve never heard of it before. I would definitely recommend checking it out! Trips to Wegmans never hurt either. ;p

Vanessa at Project Zen says
Very impressive cereal and you sound so cute and great in your vlog!
However, what kind of ingredients are included?
I only buy Cascadian Farms or Kashi. It’s a little on the expensive side but soooo tasty as well as good for us!!
Erin says
Aw you’re so sweet, thanks so much! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! The ingredients in Product 19 are: milled corn, sugar, whole grain oat flour, wheat flour, rice, contains 2% or less of defatted wheat germ, salt, malt flavoring, annatto color, bht for freshness 🙂
