Today started off rather quietly.
I woke up late after dreaming about a pink Schwinn. I have not ridden a bike in forever but in my dream I desperately wanted one. After Google-ing them to see if they even exist I can see why, they’re super cute! I have crazy vivid dreams sometimes.
I decided to make old fashioned oats for breakfast and mixed in a half a cup of nonfat Geek yogurt. A half a banana and a lot of honey later this was a breakfast of dreams. So yummy and creamy and filling and absolutely delicious. I don’t know why I didn’t think to combine Greek yogurt and oats before!
I hung around for a while talking and relaxing with Diane. I had planned on lazing the day away in pjs watching Big Bang theory episodes but she asked me if I wanted to go shopping and it sounded like a lot of fun. I made a plate of nachos for some fortification before the trip. I love guacamole on nachos, it adds such a nice flavor. I need to pick up some more black beans at the store so I can up the protein on these.
Last minute Christmas shopping turned in to spur of the minute phone shopping, and my stepmom is now the proud new owner of a Samsung Stratosphere.
It is awesome and I love it/ am super jealous and can’t wait til I can upgrade. Welcome to the smartphone world Diane!
After a busy day I came home and cooked up a dinner burrito! It had eggs and broccoli and cheese but instead of hummus I slathered on Diane’s homemade spaghetti sauce. I didn’t know what to expect but it tasted so good and somehow like a spaghetti burrito! ;p
For dessert I broke out a bar I’ve been snacking on all week. Raw Crunch bar was so sweet to send me a box of their energy bars to sample.
They come in four flavors: organic blueberries, organic dark chocolate, organic gogi berries, and organic cranberries. There’s no cranberry bar in this picture because Diane was such a fan they’re already gone! ;p
For dessert tonight I of course pulled out a chocolate bar. They’re my fav! 😀
Handmade, uncooked, and unprocessed, Raw Crunch’s slogan is No Artificial Nothin’. And there really is no artificial nothin’. There’s no added fillers, supplements, flavoring, colors, or preservatives. Lets examine the ingredients:
organic sesame seeds, organic sunflower seeds, organic pumpkin seeds, organic cashews, organic dark chcolate, organic flax seeds, organic pecans, raw honey, organic macadamia nuts, celctic sea salt
Talk about packing a healthy punch! There’s 150 calories in a bar, with 5 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, 10% of your daily iron, and 15% of your daily vitamin E. There’s only 5 grams of sugar and 1.5 grams of saturated fats. And the taste? Delicious. Despite their low sugar content Raw Crunch bars find a way to taste sugary and chocolate-y without beating you over the head with a sickeningly sweet flavor. The bars taste flavorful and natural and filling. I love the seedy, nutty taste and how I can taste each and every flavor in the bar. I love every single flavor (although I only got to sample one cranberry….;p) and have been enjoying organic blueberry and organic goji berries for filling snacks during the day and breaking out an organic dark chocolate one for dessert.
Raw Crunch makes awesome products and I am so excited to get to share them with you! With all the additives and fillers and flavorings going into our food today it was exciting to get to try an energy bar that takes it back to basics and makes a product that is good for you on every level. The more and more I read about health and food and the human body the more I realize how incredibly important it is to feed our body right. Its one of the best things we can do for ourselves. This girl right here could eat Sour Patch Kids and Swedish Fish for days if I had my way, but I want to live a long and healthy life more than I want that sugar coma.

I can’t help but laugh when you said “spaghetti burrito”. I remember one year I went to summer camp in like 6th or 7th grade and I swear they took all of the leftovers, blended them up wrapped, and them in a tortilla. I had a noodle in mine. lol.! My favorite way to enjoy guac is with blue corn chips and a fresh, hot salsa! Those bars sound amazing! 🙂

The bars are incredible!! Your camp burrito doesn’t sound so appetizing though! ;p Ohh I love guac with blue corn chips and salsa. I’d love some more nachos and a margarita right now! 😀

I woke up early this morning (~8 am), and took my puppy to the vet. She has round worms 🙁 I’m so sad. I know she’s okay but I’m nervous that she will infect my other dog and that they will keep infecting each other. I’m giving her medicine today (she’s chomping away on puppy chow now, so maybe after), but yeah.. a little nervous. Later today I have to clean my room, write a few things for school, paint my nails (rough life). I also have/want to go for a run.

Yum yum! I also start my day with steel cut oats – except i mix in blueberries and walnuts. Great post! It’s extra important to eat a healthy breakfast around the holidays.

My family owns a bakery so on my break from college, I’ve been working there! Yesterday, I helped out in the kitchen and made pizelles, anise cookies and magic bars. It’s the perfect spread for Santa 🙂

My day was great! Made peanut butter cookies and snickerdoodles with my girls to leave for Santa. It will be a challenge not to eat them all before Christmas eve.

We got our first snowfall of the season today (well the first real one anyways) and so the roads were slick. It’s not unusual to get snow in WI but it is unusual for this to be our first one. And I had an OB/GYN appointment today. My son is measuring right on track and sounding great. 🙂
