I had a hot date on Friday night.
Okay, Cody is a stud, but I was actually referring to this guy:
Vaseline challenged me and Josh to The Vaseline Winter Challenge. The challenge was to go on a winter adventure and see if their Vaseline Intensive Care™ Advanced Repair lotion protected our hands from the harsh effects of our dry, cold Nebraska weather. Challenge accepted!
In full disclosure, I was supposed to go ice skating for this challenge. Since I broke my butt in December I’m not going anywhere near an ice skating rink for a long, long time. The pain was ridiculous, and not worth feeling like Michelle Kwan for 2.2 seconds. I figured an activity that involved comfortably sitting would be much more my style. 😀 We decided to go on horse-drawn carriage ride!
We strolled around Old Market.
Explored Con Agra’s campus.
Went down by the riverfront.
Ran into another horse friend.
And saw our beautiful city light up the night sky. I love Omaha. The 40 degree weather that night was perfect for a stroll under the stars.
The Vaseline Intensive Care™ Advanced Repair lotion accompanied us on our ride. (My purse holds my life.) I am all about moisturizing this time of year and am glad we had this stuff on hand to keep our hands hydrated for the ride. Our skin is our first layer of protection against cold weather.
I actually tripped and fell on ice the night before our carriage ride and came down really hard on my hands. I was shocked I didn’t break skin given how hard I fell and how much my hands hurt. (And the fact I landed on and broke my lunch tupperware. 🙁 ) I chalked it up to my moisturized hands. Thanks, Vaseline!
The lotion worked like a charm to keep our hands from cracking and drying out while we were outside. It was a great date night and a fun way to spend some time outdoors in the winter.
I was sad when the ride came to an end but was happy that Cody was able to be reunited with his food. Our horse was all about food and actually sped up as we got closer to his feed box. We’re kindred spirits. 😉
If you’re looking for a winter lotion I highly recommend Vaseline. It works great and only costs $4.99. My Dermatologist has taught me that drugstore is the way to go when it comes to body soaps and lotions. You can’t beat the combination of effectiveness and value in a product.
Questions of the Day: Does your skin get dry and cracked in the winter? Are you a fan of Vaseline products? Have you been on a carriage ride?

I actually have that lotion in my bathroom and love it! It was a lifesaver when I went to Kentucky after Christmas. And what a fun date idea!

I’m ALL about moisturizing this time of year! I’m so happy your carriage ride worked out, but a little disappointed you decided to take Josh instead of me 😉

My hands get horribly dry and cracked during this time of year. It doesn’t help that I have to walk 5 city blocks in the wind to get to work. I have a bottle of the Intensive Care at work, and without it I would be lost.

Winter in the northeast has been brutal this year, so I have lotion on me 24/7. I love Vaseline brand lotion and even use in on my son.
