Hey all! I hope your long Holiday weekend was a great one! Sadly all good things must come to an end and it is now Monday but I hope this Monday is an awesome one for you. I had a wonderful time this weekend doing all sorts of things. Here’s my weekend in pictures and words.
It was COLD this weekend! Andy had to be bundled up under the blankets so he wouldn’t start shivering, poor little guy. I took him and Bailey on walks this weekend and it was snowing the one day! That seems so early in the year but it was very pretty. I love snow around the holidays. Once New Years hits I think it would be perfect if winter ended and sunshine and 70 degree temperatures returned. 😀
Besides puppy walking I also did a lot of pilates this weekend. It feels so good to stretch! I haven’t been running as much lately and last week I noticed after a few days of inactivity that I had soreness in my one calf. It was never pain but it was the feeling you get the day after you run, that workout soreness feeling, except I hadn’t run in days. I was super confused what was going on and after a day of the soreness in one calf and then both legs feeling soreness and then just the one again, I decided to stop by and ask my school nurse. The nurse there listened to what I was saying and then told me that my body has gotten used to working out and stretching. After taking that away for a few days my muscles were starting to get tight. She told me to go home and do stretches and that my legs should feel better. I went home and popped in a pilates DVD and voila, my calf soreness was gone within a day. I thought it was so strange to hear that you can get soreness from not working out but it really is possible!
As much as I love pilates it can be hard having an overeager puppy following your every move when you’re trying to workout. To Bailey the floor is her space. If I’m on the floor I’m there to be playing with her. She was not very happy having to compete for attention with the TV.
Saturday my Aunt and Uncle came to visit! I was so excited to get to see them. You may recognize my Auntie Kathi from previous blog posts. She’s the fabulous one that lives in Hawaii and always has amazing stories to share. She just got back from Italy and was showing me pictures and telling me all about her trip adventures and I was just in awe. I would love to visit there someday! We decided to head to the Bullfrog Brewery for dinner and I’m so glad we did. They make great food!
We started off with the beet and feta bruschetta. It was out of this world good, probably my favorite dish of the night.
For my meal’s side I opted for a warm pumpkin soup instead of mashed potatoes or fries. I really liked the concept of the soup but I didn’t love the execution. It was sadly too overcooked, almost to the point of tasting burnt. I wanted to like the soup, but thankfully there was plenty of other food to dig into that night.
For my main entree I got a veggie panini and it was fabulous. I loved that it was stuffed to the brim with veggies. One of the many things I love about my Aunt is how easy she is to talk to. We can talk for hours. And we did, after we got back from the restaurant we stayed up til the middle of the night just chatting and catching up.
For breakfast we made pancakes and eggs and it was a family effort. I made the eggs, Willis (my Aunt’s husband) made banana walnut pancakes, and my Auntie Kathi was so sweet to pick up some of Wegmans cranberry bread and then slice it for us. Everything was delicious. I was so sad when it was time to say goodbye. I feel so lucky to be so close to my Aunt and hope that it is a relationship we will have for the rest of our lives. Living halfway across the world from each other can make it hard to stay in touch but she makes an amazing effort.
After they left I cleaned and worked on school work and watched Lifetime-esque Christmas movies. For dinner I swung by Wegmans for a $6 meal for dinner. Their eggplant stacks are so good. Then I baked some Christmas cookies that will be featured on the blog in a few weeks!
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already over! Where does the time go? I can’t wait til Christmas, this really is the most magical time of the year.
Questions of the Day: What was the highlight of your weekend? Has your area gotten snow yet this season?

I may come sneak into your place and steal your adorable puppy. 😉
Erin says
Come and play! They always love company! 😀
MizFit says
ok now you have me thinking about that new ‘thing’ 🙂 PAWlawties? have you seen it? Pilates with your canine…
Erin says
I would totally do that if my puppies had any kind of listening skills! ;p
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
My dog likes to join in (aka get in my face) when I do Pilates, yoga, etc. At least I get an ab workout from laughing so much!:)
Erin says
haha me too! Even when they’re being annoying they’re still adorable!
Jenny @ simply be me says
I have the same problem but it’s my son who wants to get involved when I workout. Crunches are infinitely harder with a 30lb child sitting on you 🙂
Erin says
hahaha I can imagine! Your abs must be ripped!

I’m drooling with all those yummy food pics!! Sorry the pumpkin soup wasn’t so good… it looks good!! Love pilates and I never do it enough! Maybe tonight- you’ve inspired me!
Erin says
Aw yay! If you did pilates I hope you loved it! It’s one of my favorite ways to stretch out and relax.

Pumpkin soup sounds so good! Sounds to me like you maximized everything about your weekend. Glad the calf is nothing to worry about, too.
I know all about a shivering dog–I have a whippet and he is in perpetual shivering mode!
Erin says
Me too, I just read a really powerful blog post about blood clots and was so nervous but I wasn’t having any of the symptoms they normally have, just a very sore calf. The nurse said I had nothing to be worried about, and I haven’t had calf soreness since I started stretching again. It was a big relief. 😀

looks like such good food!!! can’t wait for those cookie recipes 🙂
Erin says
Aw thanks girly! I’m doing a post for Smart Balance and just have to make one more batch of cookies and then I can post all about them! 😀

I love that 10 minute solutions Pilates DVD! I have it at home, and I haven’t done it in a while. I’ll have to break it out again.
Erin says
Isn’t it great! I’ve been using that DVD (at first actually a VHS! ;p) it since I was in middle school!
Amanda @RunToTheFinish says
aww puppy walking how fun!! I always miss having a dog whe I see these because i love those walks!! but not the poo pick up 😉
Erin says
I definitely would not miss the poo pick up. haha But their adorableness at being outside and excitement for exploring and walking on teeny tiny legs makes up for it! 😀

We’ve just gotten a dusting of the white stuff over the holiday weekend. I HATE driving in it, so I’m grateful for just a bit of it!
Erin says
It won’t stop snowing today! I normally wouldn’t mind but since I’m the only one home before I go to school that means I’m going to have to shovel it!
Jessie says
Bummer that the pumpkin soup wasn’t too good, but at least you had lots of other delicious meals to make up for it 🙂
Erin says
Oh yes, everything else more than made up for it!
Katie says
That beet dish looks amazing! I love beets! And feta! In fact, both are in my fridge right now… mmmmm…
Erin says
