I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day. Josh and I spent part of it in Boalsburg at the Memorial Day Festival. Boalsburg claims to have invented Memorial Day. I have no idea if that is true, but they sure know how to put on a party.
The weather was perfect. It was a great day to celebrate what makes America great and reflect on those who died to protect what we love so much about our country.
If you guys haven’t noticed, I’m super pale. Being so fair skinned means I have to take extra care to protect my skin. I burn super easily and don’t tan. Both my dad, uncle, and grandpa have had precancerous moles removed from their body. One of my closest friends battled melanoma (and thankfully won!) at 19. Growing up in Florida I’ve had more than my fair share of bad sunburns. Now that I’m older sunscreen is critical to me. I always use at least 30 spf and reapply every few hours throughout the day.
When I was given the opportunity to review and give away Goddess Garden Organics sunscreen I was very excited. Any time I can take the chance to preach sun safety and warn people to not use tanning beds I’ll do it. Seriously, please don’t use tanning beds, there’s no reason to. Vitamin D is still absorbed by your skin when you have sunscreen on. Acne medications treat acne way better than the sun can. And spray tans can color your skin any color you want it. Sunscreen is your friend. 😀 Okay I’m off my soap box, but Goddess Garden sunscreen is pretty awesome. I was given the Sunny Body and Sunny Face. Their sunscreen is all natural and non greasy. I’ve been using them for the last few weeks and felt ready to review them.
I love how the Sunny Body sunscreen is offered in a spray. It makes it so easy for spraying on quickly and heading out the door. I’ve been using it when I get into my car since that seems to be how I usually get sunburn on my arms. Ten minutes here and there can really add up. My wedding dress is strapless so I need to make sure I don’t have weird sunburn lines! haha
Josh was really nervous when I told him I was reviewing an all-natural sunscreen. I love the idea of a sunscreen made as naturally as possible but the last all-natural sunscreen I tried last year was super greasy and runny. It also smelled really bad. Goddess Garden is nothing like that sunscreen. It really was non-greasy, had a pleasant scent (that Josh pointed out he really liked), and was super easy to apply. It also, and most importantly, kept me sunburn free! I really like that you can have the best of both worlds with this sunscreen. When I was shopping at Wegmans the other day I was super excited to see that they were selling Goddess Garden there. These are absolutely products I will buy again. Details for how to win your own set of Goddess Garden sunscreens are at the bottom of this post. Before I get to that I thought it would be fun to share some more pictures from the festival.
It felt like everyone in the State College area was in Boalsburg. The town had such a fun atmosphere.
I definitely ate my body weight in kettle corn. It’s an addiction.
Josh bought a pretzel from an Amish stand and it was easily the best pretzel either of us have ever had. I wish I could eat another one right now.
It was fun getting to hang out with Lily and Pierce. How cute are they together? Waiting for this flag to unfurl for this picture was pretty funny.
The guys in a serious photo.
Lily and I decided to smile for our photo. ;p I do not envy how hot those dresses must have been!

We are HUGE fans of sunscreen in this house since all of us are heavily freckled and super fair skinned. I love the idea of an organic sunscreen since do many of them are filled with so much yuck that it almost outweighs the healthy benefits if using it!

We use mineral sunblock here in Florida because it’s the only thing I think is safe for my kids. They always wear hats and when they’re swimming, we put them in SPF tees or long sleeve swim shirts

Sunscreen is a must, especially during the summers here. I am 1/4 Filipino, so I always have a slight base color, but as I get older, my skin is more sensitive to the sun, and instead of tanning right away, I turn a bit pink/red for a day or two and then it turns into a tan. This means extra sunscreen now! I had a bad chest sunburn a couple years back (one of the only ones I’ve had, but it was a doozy with water blister type weird things on my chest that made me look like a spotted leopard afterwards). I have to find sunscreen that’s good for sensitive skin (super temperamental to fragrances, etc), as well as perspiration (for running), especially for my face, which is the most sensitive (I also wear glasses 24/7, so I have perma-glasses tan. Not hot)

Looks like a super fun time!
I always have sunscreen on my face, every single day, even if I’m not going to lay in the sun. I really should be better about wearing sunscreen on my body though, but I don’t like all the chemicals! I’d love to try out Goddess Garden’s sunscreen, for sure!
