Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Like always, it passed by way too quick. Josh and I had a lot on our agenda.
We went to a Christmas party! Josh’s program was hosting a party and it was such a fun time. Josh’s program is so nice and I feel so lucky to consider so many of them good friends. There was definitely a packed house. This is our first Christmas tree picture. I can’t wait until next year when we’re standing in front of our own!
There was food, food and more food! I’ve been having some stomach issues these past few days so I was taking it easy to try and not give myself any digestion issues. I tried to be good but then there were things like this:
Alissa has recently become addicted to the crack that is cookie butter. She is also an amazing baker and decided to bring some homemade cookie butter bites with cookie butter frosting. They were heaven.
Josh and I challenged Alissa and Lily to a shuffleboard match and it was a nail biter to the finish. The final round we were tied with only two points needed to win. We made a valiant effort but ultimately Alissa and Lily proved superior. It was still a good time. ;p
We also ended up going to Sakura, a Japanese Restaurant in town for Sharon and Daniel’s birthdays.
The birthday boy and girl!
You know a place is amazing when their steamed veggies and tofu with absolutely no sauce or oil tastes good. I’m hoping I get my tummy issues sorted out soon so I can get back to eating my normal foods!
Josh ordered the yaki udon and raved about it.
He also ordered the sweet potato sushi and shared it with me. Oh my goodness it was delicious. And the fried sweet potato didn’t upset my stomach. Score! It was so much fun getting to hang out with everyone and celebrate. It was a wonderful night.
The rest of our weekend was spent cuddled up inside celebrating Hanukkah! It was my first time getting to light up a menorah! I’m so excited to learn more about the traditions and history of the holiday when I visit Josh’s family this winter. And to have more holidays to celebrate! Josh had minor surgery this past weekend (removing a non-infected cyst) and between my finals and upset stomach resting and relaxing were called for in a major way. I’m keeping this weekend recap short and sweet because today is a full day of work and then my first final. Let the end of fall semester begin!
Question of the Day: What was the highlight of your weekend?

So sorry that you’re having tummy issues. I hope you figure them out soon.
We spent today cleaning and decorating for Christmas. I know, boring, but I only had one day off and it had to be done. Oh yeah, I did laundry too :-p

LOVE sweet potato sushi – so delicious! Sorry you’re having stomach issues – I know ALL about them, and have found that being 90% dairy free, gluten free and following a low fodmap diet has changed my life. It’s a lot to take in, but you may find some of it helpful!
Erin says
Thanks so much! I just went to the dr and had some bloodwork done and (tmi) had to leave a stool sample. Hopefully I find out more soon!

OMG cookie butter!! I keep seeing the Biscoff butter and the cookie butter at trader joes and I desperately want to try it…. but I know it’s a terrible idea because I will eat the whole jar in one day!!!
Erin says
It is both a terrible idea and an amazing idea. It’s delicious!! But having self control with it is very very hard! ;p
