A Change of Plans

August 6, 2012 10 Comments

I have been getting so spoiled with how good and veggie-friendly the food in State College is. The other day I went with Michelle out to Ottos for dinner and we had some of the best food. They had a special vegetarian menu that night!

Fried tofu with peanut sauce.

Falaaaaafel!!

Local made Fasta pasta raviolis stuffed to the brim with mushrooms and cheese.

And some gloriously buttery garlic green beans.

I was meeting with Michelle to discuss photography options at our wedding. I know I already blogged on here saying how we had found a wedding photographer but what I’ve realized with planning a wedding is how quickly plans can change. Katie was phenomenal and would have done an amazing job but what I loved about Michelle is how she’s also a vegetarian, a redhead, and a blogger!

Michelle runs the photography studio Red Headed Ninja and she is every bit as cool as she seems. She is also incredible warm and friendly and super easy to get to know. In her spare time, Michelle also runs a website called State College Wed that is a resource for local weddings with a DIY, alternative, handmade, and/or green flair. She was a bride herself just a month ago! Because Josh and I are having a vegetarian wedding, with lots of handmade and DIY elements she thought we would be a perfect fit for her site and offered me the opportunity to get to share my wedding planning journey there. For the next year I will be a featured blogger there, blogging about updates and plans in the wedding process. I’ll still be blogging here too but if you’re looking for more scoop on my big day make sure to check it out! My first post is already up!

Continuing with the good food trend, Josh and I were really excited to try Pizza Heaven for the first time. Pizza Heaven is a new pizza place that opened up in State College that every time we have passed Josh has commented about wanting to try. Josh is a self-admitted pizza snob while I can enjoy even the worst of it, so if he was game, I was definitely down. We had margarita sauce pizza with spinach, onions, garlic, and cheese. It was so good and the price was really affordable. We definitely plan on going back.

Say hello to my little mountain of chocolate chip cookie dough! At night Josh and I went over to The Creamery to meet up with our good friend Pierce to hang out and chat over dessert. The Creamery is HUGE in State College and considered the place to go to get ice cream. To be honest it’s not my absolute favorite but it’s still really, really good!

And that was our fun little adventure of food! Looking back on all of it is making me hungry. ;p

Question of the Day: What is something your local area is famous for? Do you like it or find it to be over-hyped?

Are you comfortable eating tofu when it’s likely made from GMO soybeans?

Yes, I am completely comfortable eating soy in moderation. I do not rely on it to meet nutrtional needs, I just really enjoy it!

I went to a wedding a few years ago at Penn State and they had this exact photographer! They absolutely LOVED her and I adored their pictures to pieces! She was so professional and awesome. They raved about her before hand and told us all about her!

She also took tons of guests pictures (one of my old profile pics on FB is one of me & my date dancing) at the wedding! She was fabulous and I bet you will love her!
