7 Minute Workout

June 24, 2014 26 Comments

This is not a sponsored post. I just wanted to share a cool free app I was clued in onย and have been using.

I’ve really been making fitting in fitness a priority lately. That being said, travel and a busy schedule can throw my plans for a loop sometimes. When I’m out of my routine it’s easy for me to make excuses and feel like I don’t have the time and/or energy. Technology has been able to solve so many of life’s problems and it was able to solve this one for me.

Johnson and Johnson created a free 7 minute workout appย (for iPhone and Android) that coaches you through a timed workout with voice directions and video instructions. This infographic breaks down the history and science behind it:

It recommends doing the workout routine a total of three times for a 20-minute, complete HIIT workout. It’s still important to note that seven minutes is better than nothing. When I’m traveling for work sometimes ten minutes in a hotel room is all I have. And seven minutes of this will get your heart rate up. Josh and I did this routine on the easy setting and were huffing and puffing our way through it.

At the end of the workout you can rate how you’re feeling. I loved all the movements and found the app really easy to use. The only thing that bugged me was that it told me to do a side plank during the workout, but didn’t tell me which side. It also didn’t have me switch sides halfway through, so I had to make sure to plank on the other side after my workout was over to keep my body even.

Josh and I were feeling great after our workout. I wanted to share this app with you because this is exactly what I have been looking for withย on-the-go workouts. I figure I can’t be the only one in need of such a service. And free is my favorite price. ๐Ÿ˜€

Another awesome thing about this app is that it was featured in iPhone’s latest Strength commercial. Technology is an incredible thing.

Question of the Day: Are you able to motivate yourself to workout while traveling or busy? I thrive in group fitness classes/personal training sessions because they keep me accountable and increase my motivation. I love that I now have an on-the-go option for when a group workout is not a possibility.

Yes! Especially when some of those 7 minutes my body is screaming from the work. Wall sits are not my friend. ;p
