Everyone wants glowing skin. The kind of skin that looks like you swallowed a lightbulb and have sunshine radiating from your pores. While confidence, happiness and a smile are mother nature’s ultimate tricks for beautiful skin, there are some simple things you can do day in and day out to get your skin glowing. Here are my five favorite tips for glowing skin.
How to get glowing skin in five simple steps
1. Drink your dang water
We all need to be drinking more water, for so many reasons. When your skin isn’t getting enough water it dries out and gets dehydrated. When this happens, you’re more likely to see fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Challenge yourself to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day and keep track of how your skin responds.
2. Eat more skin-friendly food
You really are what you eat. Glow from the inside out by feeding your body the nutrients it needs for healthy skin. The Mayo Clinic recommends these following foods for glowing skin:
- Carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables
- Spinach and other green leafy vegetables
- Tomatoes
- Blueberries
- Beans, peas and lentils
- Salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish
- Nuts
3. Wear sunscreen *every* day
Nothing will age you like the sun. Youthful skin reflects light evenly, giving you a glow. As you age, and the sun has its way with your skin, your skin stops reflecting light as effectively. Do yourself a favor and hold on to that natural glow for as long as you can by using sunscreen every day.
4. Use a jade roller on your face
Jade rolling is an ancient Chinese skincare practice where jade stone is rolled on the face in specific movements during a facial massage. If you aren’t familiar with the benefits of facial massages, there are many. Aside from being relaxing, it helps with lymphatic drainage, releasing tension, increasing blood circulation, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. I’ve just started incorporating jade rolling into my skincare routine and love it. This is the jade roller I use.
5. Cleanse your face two times day
Dirt and grime seriously dampen your skin’s glow. This is why it’s important to wash your face twice a day and use a good cleanser. I’ve been working on my glow with Olay Cleansing Infusions. They’re the first Olay cleansing solutions that come in both a body and face version. I love this because I typically wash my face in the shower in the morning when I’m also washing my body.
I’ve been using the Olay Cleansing Infusion Hydrating Glow Facial Cleanser and Body Wash with Deep Sea Kelp & Aloe. I love how it feels on my skin, how it smells, and how clean my skin is afterward. There is definitely no dirt or grime left to dull my shine! The product’s non-stripping cleansers clean my face without causing dryness, and actually add hydration back into my skin. I’ve never used a face wash that felt like a moisturizer before! I’m all about layering on the moisture so this is a huge win for me. You can shop for your own set of Olay Cleansing Infusion Collection on Amazon. Here is the link for the Deep Sea Kelp & Aloe and here is the link for the Crushed Ginger & Citrus Extract set.

I’ve been trying to drink more water lately but it’s surprisingly hard to change that habit. My goal was a gallon per day but it seems impossible!

Amazing tips! Using a jade roller is definitely new to me. I add a drop or two of my favourite Clarins’ self tanner product to my daily routine. This gives me a beautiful extra glow.

I’ve got to get better with EATING for healthier skin. Too often, because of my intense schedule, I don’t eat the way that I should. I will drive through Starbucks and have coffee for lunch and sometimes dinner too rather than taking the time to feed my body the nutrients it needs for better skin. Thanks so much for the reminder. I will get better at this…and soon!
