Hey everyone! I hope you had a good weekend. Don’t forget to link-up to your weekend snapshots at the bottom of this post.
My weekend was a mix of frantic panic and hours of lazing away on the couch. I didn’t manage to snap one picture, so I’m sharing some source images of how my weekend went down.
On Friday I got to work and realized I didn’t have my phone with me. I figured I must have left it at home, and went on about my day. I got home from work Friday night and realized I couldn’t find my phone anywhere. I got freaked out because Josh had just left for Connecticut to spend part of his winter break with his parents.
After a few hours of panic I found out the building across the street had found my phone and brought it to their front security desk. I ran over in my PJs around 8pm to go grab it.

Unfortunately when I got it back it looked something like this. My brand new iPhone 6 that I’ve had for less than a month. I was devastated but really happy to have my phone back. I made an appointment at the Apple Genius bar for the next day and three hours and $109 later I had a brand new iPhone. They went to replace the screen and noticed the headphone jack was dented. They didn’t want to risk more problems later on so they just charged me for a screen replacement and gave me a brand new phone. I was ecstatic.
Moral of the story:
- Don’t be a moron and drop your phone crossing the single solitary street to your car.
- Buy Apple care for $99 when you buy your phone so you don’t have to worry if something happens to it.
- If you ignored the first two items and you’ve dropped said phone and don’t have insurance go to the Apple store and they’ll take care of you.

The rest of my weekend was spent absolutely devouring the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I never understood the hype with this series and thought the books were dark and twisted and for lack of a better word: wrong.
When I was watching TV the other day I saw this trailer:
and realized I might have been too quick to judge the books. It didn’t seem like a series about some weird fetish. It seemed like a love story. (Albeit a dark, twisty one.) So I bought the trilogy with an iTunes gift card Josh put in my Christmas stocking and got to reading. It’s all I did all weekend. I literally could not do anything else but be wrapped up in the story. I finished the series Sunday night and feel like I can finally get back to reality. I have to go grocery shopping after work today as a result. 😉
If you’ve been curious about the 50 shades books but never read them because they seemed too out there I recommend you give them a try. I drew a lot of similarities to Cruel Intentions. I wish Ryan Phillippe was about ten years younger so he could play Christian Grey. 😀
Questions of the Day: Have you ever had any tech emergencies? What was the highlight of your weekend? Have you read 50 Shades of Grey? What did you think?
Andrea @ The Pineapple Cake says
You’ve convinced me to read the Grey books now. I loved Cruel Intentions (still do!) and if the books are similar I think it’s time to give it a try.

Glad you found your phone even if it wasn’t in the best condition. I hate the anxiety of not knowing where your phone is at. A little dependent, right?
Ashley @ Kickashmom says
I have the first book but never made the time to read it. I should dig it out of my closet.
Joanna@Makingmine says
Ah boo! I’m glad you got your phone fixed though – it’s a terrible feeling not knowing where it is! I’ve never read the 50 Shades books – I still don’t know if I’ll give them a try haha
Stacie @ SimplySouthernStacie says
I’ve never read the 50 Shades Trilogy mainly because I heard they are based on Twilight fan fiction and the last thing my life needs is more Twilight. However, the trailer does look pretty good. I can’t even pretend to hate on it.

Too bad about your phone – at least you found it. I have not had any phone emergencies, but plenty of computer and even I-pod emergencies.
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
That sucks about your phone but $100 isn’t too bad to get a new phone! I loved the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, cannot wait for the movie! Glad you gave it a chance. It’s totally not my normal thing either but it’s a good story.
Annette@FitnessPerks says
Ugh, getting a new phone/fixed can be such a hassle! Glad you got it back though!
Kate @KateMovingForward says
I love it when you get wrapped in a good book like that! I just read Firefly Lane, a friendship tear-jerker, this weekend and it was soo good!
Nora Minassian/Jacket Society says
Apple does have the best customer service, they have given me a new ipad when I dropped mine! Happy New Year.

Man losing your phone sucks! But finding it in that condition really sucks. I am so happy that you were able to get it fixed without paying full price.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Erin! That’s too bad about your phone, but at least it’s all fixed up now. My weekend was great!! I attended my last holiday party, thank goodness, so I’m back to healthy now. 🙂 Thanks for hosting the link-up!

I loved 50 Shades, I couldn’t put them down either! I bought the first one, then started the book, 2 chapters in I went right back into Costco and bought the other two, lol. Not so sure about who they chose to play the characters, but I’ll definitely give it a go.

Ugh, cracked phones are the worst! My iPhone 4 cracked right before I got by iPhone 6, so luckily I was already buying a new one. The guy at the store convinced me this time to buy insurance for my phone since they are so expensive to replace!
