They say time passes quickly when you're having fun. Maybe that's why this year feels like it has gone by in the blink of an eye. I have never had more fun than I'm having right now.
I was never in a rush to get married. I always said I'd rather be alone than in a bad relationship. But ever since I was a little girl I dreamed of finding my Prince Charming.
You may think that sounds stupid, or naive, and I get it. But as a hopeless romantic, my dream was to find my person to share life with, to go on adventures with, and to grow old with.
Growing up, I was different than my friends. I seem to have a knack for becoming friends with people that are as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. While guys showered them with attention, I was left to feel different, alone, and unwanted.
College led me to make some bad relationship decisions. Guys seemed to be more about validation than about a connection. But I didn't want to date just to date. I wanted more.
I became so worried about being normal, about being like everyone else, and about fitting in. I thought I was going to end up a lonely cat lady, reading self-help books in my mid-thirties about how all the good one's aren't taken (You can feel free to call me crazy now).
When I met Josh I learned a very valuable lesson. Your story doesn't have to be like anyone else's. You don't have to date a ton of guys. When you find the right guy, it only takes one.
One guy can make your whole world. He can love you unconditionally. He can be your best friend. He can make you believe in true love.
I'm so lucky to have found my guy. And for our wonderful first year of marriage. I'm excited for many, many more.
If you live in Omaha and would like to document a special milestone in your life, Kitty is offering a free 30-minute photo session to a lucky reader. Or if you'd rather be behind the lens instead of in front of the camera, she's offering a free Photography 101 class. The winner must be able to book their photo shoot/photo class during the month of August.
