I thought my grandma would live forever. I don't think anyone had a stronger personality than her. I felt like she could will a mountain to move and it would.
She was a huge part of my life story, and is in many of my memories. Throughout her life she showed me nothing but unconditional love.
My grandma was so proud to be Irish. She was so proud that I was Irish. She never wanted me to forget my roots or where I come from. I didn't really get it at the time. Now that she's gone I wish I could have more conversations with her about her memories and our ancestors and their stories.
A few months ago I wrote a post sponsored by Nestlé about words of wisdom from my mom. Today I wanted to share wisdom I learned from my grandmother. Every time I see or hear something Irish I think of her. Every picture I see of me playing the violin or Irish Dancing I say a little thank you to her for encouraging me to discover my roots. I'm so proud to be Irish. This is a particularly beautiful Irish proverb that I love:
Thanks Grandma, I love you. <3
