Weekend Snapshots 7.21
Hey everyone! Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Like always, mine went by way too fast. My weekends are never really relaxing, but they're always a ton of fun. Here's what I was up to: After work on Friday, Josh and I decided to head down to South Omaha to try Laos. Laos is a Thai restaurant that my friend Molly has been raving about. This girl knows all the good eats in Omaha so I was excited to try it out. Josh and I split veggie spring rolls and then I got  chicken pad thai for my entree. It was delicious, and definitely some of the best Thai food I've ever had. I don't like spicy food, so although I love love love pad thai, I totally admit it can sometimes be a little bland with such a mild flavor. Laos was able to add a lot of flavor to the dish, even without the heat. Saturday my alarm was set for 5am. I was volunteering for my first race! I volunteered in conjunction with Junior League as part of their partnership with The Color Run. I really wanted to throw color, but am a wuss when it comes to being outside in the summer sun for hours at a time. I'm way too pale for that. Also my one eye was inflamed and I didn't want to get a ton of color in it. And my skin has been an itchy annoying mess for the last week and I cannot for the life of me figure out what I am allergic/intolerant to. Long story short, I ended up working the store with two other wonderful JL ladies and two awesome Color Run employees. We had so much fun watching the Zumba party before the race, chatting with racers, and selling people lots of awesome Color Run merchandise. (They have fanny packs!!) I also got to meet fellow blogger Dreadmill Drummer who was racing with his son. He's getting ready for his next race which is a 50k! I was seriously impressed and know he is going to rock it. I was also really impressed by  The Color Run staff. They work hard and put on a quality race.  I had such a great time volunteering, but I really hope I get to run in it next year. It looks like it was a fun time. After the race, I had to quickly get showered and changed to head to an Omaha Bloggers meeting. We met at Ragazzi's to network and discuss social media over delicious pizza. Josh and I are still trying to scope out all the good pizza places in Omaha and this is one I need to take him to. I tried the tomato basil pizza and the artichoke chicken pizza. They both were so yummy. Sara from Social Connections was our featured speaker. She was so nice and talked to us about how important it is to be our authentic selves when we blog. This was the group of us. It was so nice to reconnect with some familiar faces and get to know some new ones too. Omaha Bloggers are a great bunch and it's a group I'm so happy to be a part of. Lisa of The Walking Tourists took charge of organizing this event and did a fabulous job. The event went off with a hitch thanks to her and our sponsors: Ragazzi's PizzaMagnolia Hotels, Whole Foods Omaha, and Firehouse Subs. After the blogger meeting on Saturday, Josh and I headed over to Aksarben to see a Journey tribute band! Just like the Midtown Crossing event, the place was packed! We went with our good friends and like always, drank too much, ate too much, and had so so so much fun. The cover band wasn't the best, but I still rocked out to Don't Stop Believing. Sunday I slept in until 9 and felt like a new person. After that, I decided to sweat off some of the previous night with a Zumba class. I usually walk into class right as it's starting, but this time I was 10 minutes early (And since I didn't know what to do with myself I decided to take a picture). It's amazing what a difference 10 minutes can make. The room goes from empty like this to absolutely packed. It was a fun class and one that left me absolutely drenched in sweat. The rest of the day was spent running errands and watching endless Chuck episodes. It was the perfect way to end the weekend.
