Silly, Standard, and Serious: Fears

Silly, Standard, and Serious: Fears
Do you guys ever just want to talk? I want to have random conversations on here with all of you. I read a lot of blogs and one of my favorite things to do on blogs is leave comments. That's where the real conversations happen. I've learned a lot from other commenters and sometimes just want to spark a conversation for no other reason than to hear what people have to say. So here goes! I was listening to a podcast the other day that was talking about fears. It got me thinking about my fears. While I'm an incredibly anxious person I don't feel like a particularly fearful person. Is there a difference? I'm not sure, but it seems like it in my mind. Anyways, while I don't feel like I have a billion fears, I realized  my fears tended to fall in the silly, standard, and serious ranges. Some are real fears that make my stomach fall and my heart race. Others are just superficial things that I laugh about how absurd I'm being.  I thought it would be fun to talk about.

Silly

bigstock_Wrinkles_6171954 (Source) I'm scared of wrinkles, or rather, I'm scared of seeing my face old. Sometimes I think about how I'm turning 25 this year and it dawns on me that I won't be young for much longer. Some people age wonderfully, while other people don't. Here's hoping a good skincare routine pays off in the long run! ;)

Standard

common-vampire-bat_505_600x450 (Source) I feel like everyone has an animal or experience they're afraid of. For me it's bats. The sight of them is enough to make me want to cry. I think of them biting me and giving me rabies or clawing out my eyes and hair. I had a mild panic attack at the zoo when I went into an exhibit where bats were flying around freely. I was doing good until I noticed one sitting by my arm. It doesn't help that Josh thinks they're adorable and super cute.

Serious

man-and-woman-sneezing (Source) I feel like most people would probably say their serious fear is themselves or their loved ones dying. Mine is dying from a serious communicable blood disease like AIDS or hepatitis C. It scares the bejeezus out of me. It's absolutely ridiculous, especially because diseases like that are hard to catch. As someone who has never had a blood transfusion, never done drugs, and is in a monogamous marriage, my likelihood of catching diseases like these are about 0%. It's totally illogical and totally irrational but seeing someone bleeding or something that's bloody makes me feel like I need to get as far away as possible and clean absolutely everything. I feel like I was meant to be a germaphobe but my genes got confused and I wound up with this weird mutation of it instead. Isn't it weird how strange fears can be? The things I should fear, like heart disease and car accidents, don't worry me at all, while little winged flying creatures and open wounds make my heart race. Do you find this to be true with your fears as well? [Tweet "Silly, Standard, and Serious: What Are Your Fears?"] Questions of the Day: Do you have silly, standard, and serious fears? Is this the most random blog post you've read in a while? Do you like the idea of having conversation posts like this?
